So I'm working on the SPC install on my 99 (also deleted ahc). Can someone explain to me how to set the caster?? From what I can tell, the D position is the way to go with the 2.5 OME kit? I've been looking at the chart, but I don't even know what I'm looking at, or how to set the caster, or what the caster even is. Then there's camber? Could obviously use some help.
Put it at Setting d and don’t worry about it, let the alignment shop set it from there. You can google caster and camber to understand what they are, plenty of pics and descriptions. I honestly just put mine together and drove 3 miles to the alignment shop. The only thing I did was set the ball joint in the middle of the recess that it slides within.
Set the cam's at the UCA (mounting points) in the middle, and the camber adjustment (ball joint position in the UCA) in the middle to get you to the alignment shop. Depending on the amount of lift you have set SPC ball joint position to "C" or "D". Setting D will move the wheel back in wheelwell and may rub a little on sharp turns ( depending on the size of tires).
Your target is to get caster to a minimum of 3 degrees and preferably closer to 4 degrees.
Basically more caster angle allows the wheel to return to center with less effort- self centering-less wander in a straight line. More caster can also make steering heavier and less responsive however.
