The PO of my vehicle fitted 31x10.5x15 wheels/tryes on my truck. The spare is a 205 R16 - which is the origional tyre.

I am looking at changing the tyres and would prefer to change 4 not all 5. Since the spare is a different diameter - would it be a problem to use it with the 31s? I take it 33s would be more of a problem but would it be OK? To my mind, having different tyre / wheel sizes on the same axle means the wheels rotate at different speeds - just like going round a corner - so it would be OK? ...I think, but am not sure??

jim,

i would not recommend using different size tires on the vehicle, especially on the same axle. the original tires are 15", not 16" as your spare is, so the PO or the PPO has changed that as well. get them all to be the same size...

I would get it the same size as the rest. go for 33's. use the money you saved selling the patrool and buying the 60..... oh wait, you had to pay someone to take that didnt you? ;)

Well for a street vehicle I have to say no. For a trail rig I dont think its a big deal. Unless ofcourse you have auto lockers. Say like detroits and such. Different tire sizes screws them up.

Dont play that game with a street rig.

Where have you been Thorvald? That Patrol was a give away at the price I sold it considering it was such a great vehicle.

I think I will need to change the spare - but I was hoping not to. Maybe a retread as a spare will suffice and save a little money.

OEM wheels are 15". Or did Euro. spec 62's come with 16's.

Not to say it's a good idea but it could be that the PO used a 16" spare to compensate for your 31's. Are the overall diameters comparable?
Hm, it still doesn't sound quite tall enough.

Just throwing it out there...
