I was wondering if any of you guys are still using your stock spare tire location?? Also looking for advise on where I could locate mine- besides the stock location OR the roof rack...?? And no, I can't mount it on a $1500 ARB rear bumper either. You know, homegrown ideas on how to do it on a shoestring budget and not have it inside the truck- vastly reducing my inside storage. Asking too much?? Probably- you know me..
Until Bobby gets a pickup I'm usually the only 4X4 in the family- and everyone wants to go!

Ratchet strap, and hood..... You like Land Rovers right???

Actually since doing my steering lines I haven't put my center grill piece back in. I could probably lay it up front on the bumper somehow. No cheap way to do some kind of pivet off the stock rear bumper? I'll have to search the 60 section in the morning.

Do you have a receiver hitch? You could make a spare tire mount that would slide in and out of the receiver hitch. I might have enough scrap metal to make the whole thing or at least a good start.

You know Mike i do but w/o a lift kit of some kind it is one of my favorite places to smack rocks with back there. Maybe incorporate a small skid plate at it's low point?? I think I remember a thread somewhere where Aric had something like that on one of his rigs. I'll have to search.

Skid plate or one of them roller wheels like the big motorhomes have on their rear bumper that drag their behinds on everything.

Ha-ha! No sheeet! Never thought of that.

Hate to say it but most of the "nicer" locations are based on a dual pivot bumper setup. Guess I'll just have to get dirty getting the spare from it's stock location! I've decided my first concern should be a good spare- since mine is flat and pretty old. Anyone have a suitable 31-33 inch tire laying around unused that will hold up if I need it?? I'll start my spare tire search/build with that. As Daphne would say that is a "more better" thing to do.

If you find a suitable latch and a mounting spindle/hinge I can make you a custom bumper for probably less than $100. Then mount a swing out carrier off of that, and build in a tow hitch so we can get rid of your factory one.

Sounds good Jesse. Let's see how your "spare time" works out once you're retired. I'll take all the help and advise I can get/afford. You need to get a credit card machine that way I can come over once a month and you can "swipe" all the $$$ on my plasma donation card. At $240 a month I may be ready for McGrew after all..?!

I think I will name the new company "Bobby-Proof Engineering". If Bobby can break it then it doesn't make the cut!
Ya no****! My front still has this tiny wobble too. I just need to get it past the breakable stage. You know I don't do "crazy" stuff like Ty and Aric, I just want to make it to Mcgrew w/o falling apart. George in Stockton is trying to hook me up with a used OME setup but no telling when that will happen or if I can gather all the money together. With my help(ha) he said labor would be about $350 but I need another $350 for the U-bolt flip kit and whatever he wants for the used OME . Who knows what that will be but my guess is probably too much. He's been a big help and it's a great offer. So much to get done and July will be here so quick.

i dont really wheel my truck.
