on the road again....
I have 6 RW's I was keeping so I would have 2 spares for rough trips. I have thinking of letting one go. Is there another wheel that will work as a spare when I need 3 spares? Seems like I have seen some that size come out...may be mistaken.

Jim

For spares, it’s more about overall tire diameter being identical or pretty close so your spare isn’t under or over rotating compared to the rest. Wheels are less important. So you could grab a cheap Tundra take-off as long as the spare tire you mount is close enough to the same diameter.

oh yeah..... gotcha

thanks

That’s just for get-home spares though.

If on some monster trip to some crazy boonies where hard wheeling has to continue...I’d want a matching, serious spare.

;)

I wouldn't go for the "approximation" method with different size tires. It's not a tire you can use in a rotation and not worth selling for what you'll get for one wheel.

6 is the minimum required quantity of Rock Warriors

yeah not worth it at all.

Three spares though?

you can never have enough money or spare tires!!! Just kidding. No I only plan on having two for hardcore ventures into the unknown. :))
Have a feeling I will be lashing one inside and not having two on the bumper. I can see why so many people build a trailer.
The number of spare vehicle parts, tools, and other necessities is daunting. I can take minimum food and buy, beg or steal that. But a lot of things you just have to take. Even a welder. I prefer going places where there are no other 4 wheelers. This is getting hard to come by.....
hence my interest in the eastern countries. Kazakstn, Uzbekastan, Tajakstan, and Mongolia. South America is still cool. You can sometimes get away from the tourists with some work. I hired an indian and a dugout and went deep in the Amazon for 3 months. He died of a burst appendix. It was a bad sign. The dugout was so big it had a gasoline motor and a 55 gallon drum for a gas tank. A true story.

Funny, but I actually found and bought a set on Craigslist listed as “Rock Worriers.” :)

Turned out people hadn’t been calling him and I think the misspelling was why. I found them bc I was shifting through Tundra wheels and happened on them.

That's great. I search for "17" Tundra Wheels" as well.

OK OK no more velcro jokes I apologize. Disclaimer I have and do use it, but none was harmed during this filming.

I'm the oddball who only does 4-tire rotations. I've never had a flat tire on the road in 30 years of driving (jinxed myself). I don't stray very far from the beaten path. And I'm thrifty.

Given that set of circumstances, I just kept my 18 inch stock wheel and bought a nearly-new used tire that was the same diameter as the tires on my Rock Warriors.

Rock Warriors - NTG G2 285/70R17 32.76"
Spare - NTG G2 265/70R18 32.64"
