I think the issue is that no one has had a failure on the JW tire carrier. That's over a year of use on a lot of trucks and some of the guys really do run their rigs hard off-road. The pricing and convenience of the JW carrier is why they sell a ton of them. If you can compete with the price and convince (opening just the door no extra latches) and provide a stronger system then you would have the business for sure.
That’s what I’m counting on. I’ve not been convinced about the long-term soundness of the design of either the “Becky” (don’t know why the name of that thing bugs me so much) or the JW carrier, so I set out to investigate a new design. We’ll see if it comes together. If it does, it’ll be a great product!

I saw one on instagram on a 120 and thought it looked good. I think the one pictured is from Wilco, but at $800 and 100lbs - I think I would opt for a full rear bumper.
