I am running 305-65-18 BFG KO's on Tundra 18's on my 1999 Land Cruiser. These measure out to a real world 33.5 x 12.50" tire...

I am installing a OME 2.5" lift kit with some 864's out back, while I am in there I thought about adding some spacers to the front (and rear if needed).

I understand that the wider the spacer the more torque applied to the entire un-sprung assembly putting more leverage on the entire front end components. My question is what is acceptable before creating problems?

I am mainly worried about:
  • Going too wide and crunching my fender lips... I do wheel this truck.
  • Going too wide and prematurely wearing out/compromising components.
  • Vibrations or wobbles at speed. (likely going with Bora)
I want to go as wide as I can for aesthetics without being hosed by the above concerns.

Any pics would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance.

I'm running 1" Bora's and it brings the tire out to match the fender. 1.25" seem to be the most popular choice which brings the tire beyond the fender by 1/4". If I were to do it over again, I would go with 1.25" for the best compromise of looks without significantly impacting suspension life.

I too am thinking about running 1.25" spacers too, i thought about selling the Tundra wheels and get more aggressive wheels but nobody wants to buy the Tundra Wheels. Guess i'll just space them out and paint them gun metal.

Most people on this board runs 1.25", i don't have any experience but from what i hear, nothing too drastic will happen to your ride quality and effectiveness.

Thanks for asking the question REZARF. I've been thinking about this as well. If running a 1.25" spacer do we run the risk of fender contact on the front? Will this require the often noted "pinch weld mod"? (not really sure what that means exactly, need to search it more i suppose)

rjones

@rjones The "Pinch weld" mod is simply pounding flat or cutting out the pinch weld (where two panels in the steel are welded together creating a seam) this is an issue with larger tire diameter more than it has to do with spacers. The seam needing attention is located in the lower section inside the wheel well, behind the plastic spray skirt and low near the bottom.

Anyone running 1.5" Spacers and not getting into the fenders when compressed and full lock?

Any pics with the 1" vs. 1.25"

There's a lot of pics in the other spacer threads and in the big pic thread,I haven't seen many with the 1.5" width. I know they would look good, I am just concerned that the will get into the fenders under compression and full turns.

Posted pics for you in RS, Drew. Here are some more. 3 examples.

Had to go in the WayBack maching to find these.....

I have 1.25 BORA spacers and Falken ATW3s in 285/70-17s.

You asked about 1.25... I'll pass this along for info sake... I was running 2 inch spacers (as seen in this pic) and after a few months I heard a rattle. I decided to take them off and inspect to find I only had 3 lugs left on one of the front passenger side spacers! I haven't ventured to get the one replaced and so I haven't put them back on since.

What brand spacers were you running? Also, what lift and tire?

Thanks @LCBlackBeauty
