Yes, 4:88s and 37s. I was running at just a little over 2200 RPM at a 100km/hr.

Around 4800 km if I recall. Lance?

Do I look sophisticated enough for Overland Journal?

Assorted shots and the famous Marble Bath. Totally full of blue marbles! From here we basically booked it home, driving from Susanville Ca. home in one shot. We stopped in Lee Vining to get a huge chicken fried steak dinner at Nicely's restaurant again then stayed in a new rest stop in the Toiyabe National Forest. Breakfast in Oregon at Dennys (BARF) then a bee line up the I5 and home across the border stopping again at Wal Mart for Delo 400 in bulk.

I didn't really keep track of the distance, but 4800km sounds about right. I was around 195,000km and I hit 200,000km after I got back.

I think this should make the cover of OJ.

Or, this one of Graham pointing to his blackened soft ball size turd, he pinched the night before. Now that's OJ material!

Thanks for posting all the pics and commentary. This is a very entertaining thread. Beautiful photos too!

Great read boys – especially this time of year when the memories of last year’s expeditions and weekend wheelin' season seems like an eternity.

Thanks, it was something I always wanted to do, even before I owned a truck. The desert is amazing, I could not get enough of it. The only thing I didn't see was a rattle snake and a scorpion. There is a lot more stuff we haven't posted yet, hopefully this weekend I will get a chance to post some more pics and vids.

Here is another vid at Calico Odessa Canyon. I have t figure out a way to capture the true difficulty and angles at play. It really came down to not sliping sideways or leaning into a stone cheese grater! I was saddened to compare our local trails with the ones at Calico. Calico was clean and unspoiled with no filth, trash and abandoned junk. Well done to the US wheelers!

YouTube - Calico 1

I would be interested in going back down here in the fall, perhaps with a stop in the Alvord desert in Southern Oregon if anyone is so inclined?

My tires don't like mud flaps, unfortunately my left flare was rivited to the mud flap, from previous owner.

Met a couple of TLCA members from LA county trail crew. An old couple in their camper got stuck in the snow covered pass, that Graham and I went through on our way back to the valley. They tried for 12 hrs tying to get themselves out, and at their wits end, when Ross and his really nice green 40 found them, and towed them down. It was after the Presidents Day long weekend, and not too many people passing through that way.

We went down to the lower springs for a tour. Here is one of the natural springs, next to the hot tub. This place was a little piece of paradise, in the one of the hottest place on earth.

This place had everything for a good time, there was also a grass court to play volley ball in the buff. Supposedly we missed a bunch of women in their 20's on the Presidents Day long weekend.

Some of the coyotes that live nearby. I fed the one that steals the other coyote's granola bar, half the box of my granola bars, and the little **** er ate this ones bar too. They were a little twitchy, but would still get up close to you, if you didn't make any sudden movement, or noise.

I was getting up very early every morning, I don't know why but camping tends to makes me go regularly. Normally I never have to wake up for it. You can actually see the color of the mountains before the sun kind of hides it in a haze.

I caught this donkey leaving from the direction of Grahams truck. Kind of looks like the walk of shame????

By the look on Graham's face, and the lack of clothes. I would say Graham had a good time last night. He got a piece of A$$.

After breakfast, we planned to check out the Devil's Racetrack from the information we gathered from the other campsite.

Here's the mysterious bulldozer with a missing starter that was blocking the road into the hot springs the other guys were talking about. Luckily one of them was carrying a starter for a bulldozer in their vehicle, and moved it out of the way....wtf?
4453731808_d79c1e2c40.jpg

This is the washboard road we had to drive on, to get to the Devil's Racetrack. It looks like nothing, but it was teeth chattering painful to drive on. It felt like the truck was going to fall apart. You couldn't drive slow, or with the tires aired down, to make it any better. Except traveling at 100km/hr, that seemed to smooth it out, but you also had to watch out for whoops and tight turns. Not fun at all.

This worries me, Lance. Do you normally 'go' without waking up? That, sir, is revolting. You need help... and a rubber bed sheet. Maybe you should consider changing your 'mud nick name from LanceCruiser to DependsUser?

Thanks for the new Sig. you incontinent Basterd!

You guys spent wayyyyyy too much time together; you're like a married couple for all us married couples who can relate.

Shhhhhh..... Don't give Graham any ideas, he might take you seriously, and that really f---k'n scares me.
