anyone know where to get replacement woofers for my 2000 L/C ? From my research it looks like 4" speakers at 2 ohm. Your input would be appreciated, thanks

I did but it does not mention a replacement 4" speaker. I am not looking to modify my existing box, I just want to replace the speakers in there.

I found some on ebay but they are 4 ohm and listed as full range speakers. Anyone know what depth I need and will a full range speaker work or does it have to be a specific woofer? Also how bout the ohms? Will 4 ohm work if the factory ones are 2 ohm?

I spent two years looking and gave up. I found some generic 4ohm 4" subs but never installed them because they didnt fit. I think I got them from monoprice.com.

Here are the stock subs:

What is the process for repairing the woofers without using a k it? Someone suggested clear silicone (rtv) anyone done this? I am afraid the rtv is too thick to spread. What did you all use to spread it over the cracks without damaging the speakers further?

If the speaker cones are what's cracked, then they need full reconing or replacement.

If the foam that attaches the paper cone to the metal speaker frame is the culprit, then the silicone repair may work.

Check with speakercity.com They may be able to help you.

I am just looking for someone to outline the steps of fixing the speakers with silicone. How do you spread the silicone on the speaker material without ripping it further? The silicone is kinda heavy and gummy. Any help would be appreciated.

They may have some ideas. They work with the sound industry in Southern Cal.

A friend of mine that works in the audio/sound industry has used them for just about everything. That's why I mentioned it. Good luck.
