Sound Dampening

Is there a difference between the LX vs LC in terms of sound dampening insulation? If there is, is it possible to retrofit or add insulation in same places? Ie door jabs, engine bay, etc?

I like playing my music loud in the middle of the night and dont want to disturb others. Also, sound dampening makes the vehicle feel more luxurious and solid in general.

I agree for an SUV/BOF truck. My favorite part is how much I'm saving on repairs (My S600 has a $60k+ repair history). But coming from top of the line german cars I got used to double pane windows and quiet engines with silencers on the exhaust.

FYI Delta Sonic in downers grove is running unlimited car washes for $3.33/mo for 6 months (works at all delta sonics).

Thanks for the heads up bro. I’m a HUGE fan of Delta Solnic, I had the unlimited with the FJ back in the day. I have a snorkel now so pretty much any automatic car wash is out unless it’s a power spray “touchless”. I’ve been reduce to the spray n wash do it yourself or hand washing.

For an extra $3.33 they will do unlimited interiors as well. They are remodeling downers grove location so it will be closed for 2 months but I end up going to Elmhurst, Naperville or melrose park. I got a detail there today for $84 inc wheel wax, vinyl conditioning, clay bark and that windshield aqueous coating (I put it on the rear windshield as well as I hate water marks coming out of the car wash). They even refinished the headlights for $15/ea (mine had some light yellowing).

Well, you can tear out the entire interior, carpet and headliner to put some 80mil sound deadener into it. Also, maybe get the quietest hwy tire out there?

I drove my mother in law's Lexus LS the other day and I was surprised that the outside noise was louder inside than the LC and that you could feel the road noticeably harder than my LC. My LC is stock except for BFG's and roof rack. I've sat in a 2018 LX and it sounds the same as the LC just sitting in it next to a noisy highway.

I have an 08 LX and a 16 LC and they are very similar for noise, but the LX is slightly quieter. The LX has double pane glass FYI.

For a truck that is designed around a low spec - the LC/LX still feel worth their big price tags when dressed up. The same can't be said of many other cars that start in the 50's and can be optioned to 100k.

Of course, most of us on mud do our best to ruin the refinement and dynamics by adding LT tires, lifts, and loads of weight. I sometimes dream of what my LC would be like with my ICON lift dialed down an inch or two and some P-metric tires. When I picked it up stock it was impossibly smooth and quiet.

I am just checking if its easy to bring more refinement into the cabin. I have slept inside her on a blistering cold night and it got cold fast. My arctic canada goose jacket kept me warm except my face/throat/hands/feet.

I still love my BFG's so the noise isn't enough to take em off.

I would just use better insulation wherever I could install it - a few dB makes a big difference.
