So this is my first 4x4, first time buying tires that I had any sort of actual care about. My wife and I love to just drive around and explore new areas past cars have lent them selves to just pavement. I could see these tires getting off road use just about every weekend. I have a 1997 landcruiser. 2.5 OME lift is going on in less then a few weeks along with sliders. Other stuff by the end of summer. We live in southern ca and plan to do most of the stuff in the San Bernardino area. I am looking at two very different tires and have read a lot of a good things about both. LT315/75R16, Duratrac are in my price range are 35s and I well I like the look of 35s and they seem to fit my needs to a T. The other tire is a Lt255/85 R 16 open country MT, I like that these are a true 33 and actually a hair over. I like the skinny look and these tires are around the same weight as the Duratrac 35s. Not to mention they are similarly priced. I know two different tires completely. I am not to worried about noise or comfort this is my daily driver but its only a short 15 min haul to work and back every day. The only time I would have passengers is during off road trips. I am sure both would be good choiced just thought I would ask others opinions thoughts.
Ps. I plan on using the stock rim not sure if the Toyos are to narrow for the rim

the 4.5 is a dog to begin with, if you want to see how real doggy it can be without regearing then go with the 315's but the 285/75 are by far the most popular choice for getting to 33" and keeping unsprung weight down plus it will be a lot easier to find a 285 in an emergency than a 315/75 or a 255/85
