Sooo… what’s the scam? (3 Viewers)

Got an offer on my 68 FJ40. Advertised on Craigslist for $5500. Guy emails me, offers $6500 but would pay in payments. 1k now, 2K in a month, then remainder in Jan when he gets a big payout. Said I keep the vehicle and title. The red flag is offering me an extra 1k. I told him if it’s still available in Jan , he can pay me in full.
Trying to figure out the possible scam on this. Any thoughts?

Take his money. If
He stops paying no refund and no car. Easy. You keep the title and car.

I see no scam, always put it in writing and notarized. $1k is good just for holding it.

It’s just owner financing. Look at the extra $1k as interest/goodwill.

Possession is 9/10ths of the law. I’d do it. How’s he plan on paying you? With a check? I’d want a check from a bank that has a location in your area. Then go to that bank and cash it. That way if the check bounces you aren’t out the fee.

I agree with @vipergrhd I’d want it in writing that NO money will be returned if partial payment is made with both parties signing in front of a notary even if in different states

Scam is he holds you up for 4 months while you can't sell it. During that time another one will probably pop up that he'll want more, and come back asking for the deposit.
