Something is messed up with redirect after a post!

I don't know what the problem is and I have signed out and signed back in... deleted cookies and repeated the above. Also, I have reset my preferences several times but this glitch keeps repeating itself...

I have asked in TUT and nobody there seems to have the problem. To sum it up in as few words as possible:

When I post in a multi-page thread (I have options set Linear- Newest First which I have reset several times to no avail) - As soon as the post is logged onto the server I am redirected to the original first page of the thread... In TUT yesterday that was 140 pages back.

This happens every time I post in any thread. It does not matter how many times I delete cookies or reset preferences. Nor does it matter whether I am using IE7 or FireFox for the browser. The only way I go back to the first page when I post is if the thread is only one page long.

It is kind of a pain because after every post I have to manually click link to First Page to get back there to post again or see what others are posting.

Is this some kind of punishment?

Any idea how I can get back to the way it was? I have no idea if this is happening to any others or if it will eventually work itself out.

honestly, no clue....if it's just changed, then it's on your end...nothing has been changed on the forum software in a few weeks.

Started three days ago and noticed it on TUT. It is across network providers and machines/platforms... It happens at work on three different machines and two different browsers and two different OS's.

It happens at home on two different machines... Methinks my Options / preference file on the server that sends the cookies is corrupted.

It is a real PITA doing ketchup if I comment on someone else's post... I am redirected to the first page of the thread... I have to click the First Page Link and then click the Link back to the post that I was commenting on since the first few pages are not displayed up there and I can't just click on the page I used to be on.

Can the preferences file be wiped from your end? I am going to see if I can go back to Options and reset to default... delete cookies and try again.

I have had a 'limiter' in place for a long time that restricts view options on any thread over 1000...helps control server loads...

if it's TUT only, I'll turn that off and see if it cures it....

Nope... just tried the nuthing thread which I never visit and the same thing happened... but that view thing sounds promising.

I thought it might just be punishment for this (or posting quoted material from another thread ;p)

it would be nice if someone remembered that I want those capped at 15k....with the nearly 17k posts in there, it would take nearly an hour to move 2000 to a new thread....so screw it...

hhmmm...well, no clue then....vB is releasing regular updates (ie: every 8 weeks) and is getting pretty good at catching the oddball stuff....I'll see if this is on their radar at all....

Thanx Woody... right now it is certainly not enough to keep me away from iH8mud... only a ban would do that.

But it is rather annoying and I can't figure out at all why it is happening or how to fix it.

Seems to have fixed itself now that I am at home today... it was not working properly at work earlier... I will continue to monitor the situation but the first post in TUT since I am home I ended up where I was supposed to be.

Well it worked only once and now it is back to acting strange and the re-direct to page #1.
