imo, an RTT trucktop is too tall for lil ones...under 6 or 7 anyway. think midnight pee breaks...them wanting in/out unsupervised..etc. on a trailer would be better. that said, id keep ground tenting it till the girls get a bit bigger. itll give you time to work on getting a trailer sorted out. plus, your truck isnt grounded at camp if you want to go out for day trips etc.

itd be nice to have an RTT setup longitudinally with a trap door so that way the lil ones can sleep in the truck, and the big ones can sleep up top with sunroof access just in case.

get michaels (lx450landruisers) trailer. either with or without the RTT...you know you want to jeff ;)

Well with the speed I move and procrastinate at, they will be in college by the time I get a new tent.

And yes his trailer looks awesome, especially after pricing out the Adventure models and similar ilk.

This was my thinking as well, if and when you see the effort I put into "Base camp" the whole idea of breaking camp for a day trip isn't appealing.

But with a rooftop, particularly the Maggiolina models, you aren't grounded. Just toss the wife out of bed, straighten the sheets, crank the lid down, and snap it closed. Done.

At least that's what it sounds like what's involved, having yet to see one first hand.

yep..the magnolia's are a much lower and narrower profile. i think they're front to back tents, and not a side to side.

...so back to hijacking andrews thread :p meet at coquitlam center, on johnston road across from the chevron? i think its the bay parking lot...say 10:30? gonna flush n refill my powersteering lines tonight. got some groaning going on.

Sure, sure and toss out the stuffies, DVD player, books, Barbies, Bratz, Little Pet Shops...
and no room for the porta-potti

Soooooooo, Who's in for sure? I'll be at Coquitlam centre at 10:30 as long as someone else is going.

Alright, alright... twist my arm. :) Looks like my clan will be turning up sans my wife, who will be working. Don't leave without me/us. 10:30ish at Coquitlam Centre.

me and a buddy want to tag along, i've wheeled with dd and enigma before, meet you guys at trailhead!

Another great day of 'cruising. We all met up on schedule at the mall parking lot (where 80 series were born to crawl at) and proceeded up to the trail head to commence airing down.
In attendance aside from myself and daughters in the Mall Terrain Vehicle (MTV); Kim and Brenda and kids in the hj60; Phil and kids in the fj60; Dave? (I'm horrible with names)..audaciousduo that is, with his wife (again, forgot your name already sorry!) and two kids in the bj70; Sonny, Marcy, and 3 kids in the fzj80, Scott in the hilux, and Dillon and buddy (doh, a name again!) in his hdj81 tagged up with us shortly after airing down.
We had 3 ER virgins this trip, with the aged and wizened GG surprising us all by saying he had never been there before. So since we had so many untainted souls with us, Sonny led us up the 'easy trail'. which needs to be renamed. Some of the rock ledges raised a few eyebrows, and aside from one short winching episode, was a typical ER run I thought.
We stopped for lunch at the viewpoint, but with the low cloud cover all we really were more trees.
We turned around and headed for home after that, and down the old 'hard way', which I think, except for one rock mound (Marcin?) is easier than the 'easy way'. While crossing the makeshift log bridge at that intersection, we impressed a couple hikers with our finesse :)
The only carnage from the day, and there always seems to be something from a trip up there, was Kims new open exhaust system, and my new flareless rear quarter panel. Yes, the 35's rub just a wee bit.

I should declare my noobness for all to mock me. The entire trip up, I forgot to shift into low range, those darn automagiks are just so easy mode :)
I'll also add that while I have been up there many times, my MTV (with the 35's) made short work of the same lines I have taken with my 40, and made them even easier, with no lockers engaged. I did use the rear locker on one ledge, the same ledge I had torn my traction bar out on my 40 a couple years ago.
