I usually don't do any trip reports, but like reading them so i decided I was bored and I'd post a few pictures and videos. Myself and a couple friends went up to eagle ridge on Monday.

Airing down.

Since we had already gone to the main look out a couple times we did a little more exploring. We first went down the power lines to the bottom and then up the pipeline which was pretty uneventful so we proceeded up to the main trail.

My friend in the red toyota had just bought it and had an oil pressure light come on so he decided to park half way up, which has since turned out to be just a bad sensor. Here's the second obstacle, the EB taking the left line and me the right. Hopefully my linking works?

We took a right at the log bridge and went looking for the old tower look out. I tried a few times to get up the steps, but gave up, being lockerless sometimes you have to give up. We ran into some quaders, the guy on the grizzly in the picture eventually also gave up after lifting some tires and getting sketchy.

Here's a video I found on you tube that shows a bunch of toyotas trying the steps with a little more eagerness. It starts at about 2:20 in the video.

Here's one of me trying it a couple years ago, it was a lot easier then.

My friend in the Bronco decided he likes his wheels on the ground and parked and we all walked the 150 feet to the look out. It was a smoggy day but the view was still pleasurable.

We headed down another trail that I had never been on that ended up joining up with the main trail. Somebody has put laminated signs on the trails so it's not much of a guessing game. We said hi to some hikers on our way down and left for home. Adam paused to test the flex on his new truck.

That's it.

Very cool, never been there at all. Where does the trail start? May give it a go this weekend.

Thanks

At the very end of plateau blvd, probably best to go with someone who's been your first time to get the ins and outs of getting from there to the main trail.

It's a great trail cause you don't need to drive tons of logging road to do it and you can go in an afternoon or evening.

Everyone always says there are tons of trails up eagle, anyone ever explore the roads past cypress lake?

Could do a Sunday run as long as long as its not too early. I'll have two kids in tow as well.

ahh...now i can see them! nice write up andrew. like the new rear tubular too...looks sharp! ive always been stopped by snow en route to the top lookout. and i also gave stairway to heaven a try (road to the right) but for some reason, even in fr/rr lock...my mt/r's didnt want to climb it.

so if sunday can work for most...i can lock it in with the mrs. not too early for me either, as the wife works till 2am sat night. so im on morning kid duties...

Sometime after 10? I've never been up there so I have no idea how long of a trip it is.

its local...top of johnston road in coquitlam. shouldnt take more than an hour or 2 depending to get to the top. i hope to be back by dinnertime..

shall we meet at the entrance? say 1030ish? or maybe at coquitlam center for those that dont know where the entrance is?

Hey Kim, if you're coming would you care to put your RTT on? Or perhaps I could just drive out and visit :p

You thinking about a RTT? Are you thinking of your putting it on your truck, with kids? I could see putting it on a trailer, but not the truck.

the truck is a bit tall and I do have to watch my step when getting out of the RTT
but it sure looks pretty!

That time works for me. I'm not sure where the entrance is so if it complicated Coquitlam Centre would be cool.

Thinking about it, don't have a trailer....yet.

imo, an RTT trucktop is too tall for lil ones...under 6 or 7 anyway. think midnight pee breaks...them wanting in/out unsupervised..etc. on a trailer would be better. that said, id keep ground tenting it till the girls get a bit bigger. itll give you time to work on getting a trailer sorted out. plus, your truck isnt grounded at camp if you want to go out for day trips etc.

itd be nice to have an RTT setup longitudinally with a trap door so that way the lil ones can sleep in the truck, and the big ones can sleep up top with sunroof access just in case.

get michaels (lx450landruisers) trailer. either with or without the RTT...you know you want to jeff ;)
