I know there has been tons of post about gas mileage and how fast are you going with the bigger tires. Sorry if this seems repetitive

I filled up today $47 ----- outrageous

I reset my trip meter every time I refuel. I have driven 210 miles on my last tank of gas. I pumped 17.8 us gal of fuel and with my dumb math I am getting 11.8 mile per gal. But I have 32.5 tires on my rig.

I have clocked it, when I travel a mile the odometer only reads .8 miles.

So if I travel 5 miles to my odometer that means I actually traveled 6 miles. Is this correct the way I am doing this?

If it is correct that means I traveled 210 miles to my odometer but I actually traveled 252 miles. and that means I am getting 14.1 miles per gal. wow and that city miles.

Question:
Is this correct the way I am doing this? Is this good or bad MPG?

Thanks,

Bruce

Damn! Last time it cost me $130 to fill up! But at least I can get 1100km's out of a tank (688 miles).
Around town (and 4WD) I get about 900 k's to the tank (563 miles).
Diesel was $1.12 per litre last time I filled. ($4.25 per US gallon here).

that sounds like some of the best mileage i've heard of on this board. what brand 32s are you running? just curious about the 32.5 measurement.

They are good year wrangeler at/s and i am sorry they are not 32.5 :whoops: they are 32x11.5 r50 15 something like that

Sweeet!

Your math is correct but where the error is that you only drove one mile to see what your odometer reads. It could of been .81-.89. I would try and drive 5-10miles and see what your odometer reads and then recalculate it if you want a more accurate answer.

(1-.89)=.11*210=23.1+210=233.1/17.8= 13.1mpg

But the point is your getting great mileage.

That mileage sounds right on to me. I'm running BFG A/T's 32X11.50. According to one of those trailers the police leave laying around, my speedo is showing about 13% low. My adjusted mileage routinely comes out to 14.5-14.8. 231k on the motor.

NOCAL, your right about that, I will test it again.

And thanks to all the people here and your input...

why do you divide it by 17.8? I'm just curious what that figure is so I can try to test my own.

The formula is for 32 x 11.5 but if you have 235 then you don't need to convert anything since your odometer is correct.

Total miles drive / gallons used = mpg
233.1 miles/17.8 gallons=13.1 mpg

i'm on 35's

Then go out and drive between like 5 mile markers and see what your odometer says then you can calculate it. It will probably only show around 3.5-4 miles on your odometer.Let us know what you get if you do it.

if I drive 235 mile on my tank of fuel and it took 17.8 gals to fill up from the last fill. That means I used 17.8 gallons of fuel to drive 235 miles so divide 235 by 17.8 and you get youe mpg.

Here is how to do it: fill your tank and reset your trip odometer the dive for a few days and fill up again and the amout of gallons of fuel divide that into the mile you drove.
