G'day Folks, I came across some photos of my old Prado I thought some of you might enjoy. It was a great truck but unfortunately a bigger family meant that I had to sell it.

It had a TRD Supercharger, custom extractors, front & Rear ARB Lockers, 3" suspension lift, 2" body lift, ARB winch bar 9000lbs warn winch, custom sliders & a lot of scratches.

Cheers
Matty

AWESOME PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the Prado.. cant wait to post up pics of the new TRD!!!!!!!

I like how you could fit both batteries in the engine bay. i unfortunately dont have that option.. Wish I could. My brake booster is located where your battery is... How did you mount it on there...??

The Brake booster must be on the opposite side due to it being a right hand drive. Lucky for me I only had to relocate the Charcol cannister to fit the second battery.

When the Blower went on I also had to insert a metal tube into the air intake hose after the air cleaner to stop it from sucking in & closing up under boost when the engine was warm (the area circled in red). Took a while to work that one out!

im looking at something the same as to what you have done! Would you be able to tell me what battery tray, and battery size you have used! And gear to move cannister.

Any info (or all) would be gre8t

Tjm and others only offer a 8 inch tray and move canister to opposite side of truck, where id like to put my compressor

What suspension have you used?

Hi floridafj80 you can put an extra battery in the same place as he did but yours would bo on the opposite side since they drive on the left in australia

Matty, what's the difference between suspension lift and body lift?

A Body lift uses spacer blocks & longer bolts to lift the entire body up from the chassis (2" inches in this case). A suspension lift uses the suspension componants to create the lift ie. coils springs.

The advantage of a body lift is that it improves tyre clearance, approach & departure angles without lifting chassis or drive train so your centre of gravity doesn't increase too much.
A suspension lift will do the same as well as increase ground clearance & ramp over but at the cost of making the centre of gravity higher in the vehicle & can also place extra stress on things like CV's etc.

Thats why I opted for a balance of both plus bigger tyres to get the lift I wanted.

Cheers

i have the same truck you have, but the 2 door version, and i have really bad problems with CVs.. i keep tearing the CV boots and i don't what to do about it.. maybe you have some advice.. i have a 3" susp. lift Ironman constant load coil springs..

PS: where did you get your body lift?? was it custom mande or is there a specific model for the 90 series?? and how much was it (in american dollars plz)

The Body lift was a custom job & I really have no idea what it may cost in your part of the world. If you do go ahead with it make sure that you use the right stuff ie - high tensile bolts & polyeurathane blocks cause home made stuff wont cut it if you're off road.

As for the CV boots - I had the same problem & just accepted it as a fact of life with an IFS set up. It did actually improve a lot once the Air Lockers went in & I didn't have to push the car as hard.

Cheers,
Matty

the CV boots situation its kinda depressing..

PS: did you modify your bumpers? since the body of the car is higher there's gotta be a lot of space between the bumper and the rig.. no?

Yep you're right. The Bull Bar & rear bumper both had to be modified to suit the body lift but once it was done it looked the same as stock.

Here is a pic of my engine bay.. See the defferences from yours and mine....

I would like to be able to put a battery in that section but I dont know If i will be able... Let me know what you think...

FlFj80 i dunno what that red thing is on the left side of the rig.. but in my case and i'm guessing is the same thing with matty, there's nothing there so that's where you'll be able to put the extra battery.. in my case i didn't find any double battery system that i liked and so i used a double cycle battery.. from my understanding double battery systems are very complex and you need very specific parts for it work the way it is supposed.. but i'm no expert.. so let me know what you think 'bout the double cycle battery

Is the red thing on the left side a compressor? I agree with GAPC, It should be easy to move that around and put a second battery in there.
