Added option for a bit cheaper price.

Any opinions here? Priced right, too high? I can say that I'm getting pretty close to my bottom dollar here already. I'll come up with the down payment in some other fashion rather than dump this truck for too little.

While it is an extremely clean example and one of the few actual part times 4wd ones i've seen for sale in the US there have been numerous ones posted in the last few months with lockers and bumpers, small lifts, etc... for around the 15k mark.

Only saying because you asked for pricing opinions

That's kinda of what I suspected. I'll just hold onto it then.

5-Speed, part-time 4wd HDJ81 with lockers? For sale where for around $15,000? I'd definitely be interested if those are clean trucks without any wreck/repair history or 10 years in Canada.

The first link is an automatic without locking differentials and an odometer discrepancy.

The second link is a truck that didn't sell and was labeled wrecked/repaired when it was for sale in Japan.

Those are night and day difference from the vehicle being listed for sale here.

Awesome truck, good luck with the sale!

Actually, the first truck is 3x locked. At least thats what the seller told me while PM'ing him on ebay.

As for the second truck, it did sell, off ebay for close to the sellers asking price, which is why it was pulled. I suppose you would know better than anyone if it was labeled as repaired by japanese reporting standards, and what that actually means (fender bender vs totalled). Then again, you also have a financial interest in the final selling price of these cruisers, so I take your commentary with a grain of salt.

There's a difference between commentary and fact. The truck listed for sale here is not comparable to the examples you've given to support your pricing opinion.

I have to agree with jk cruiser. There was just a lower mileage h151f swapped 3x locked hdj sell for 15k CAD on here. Had a g turbo, fmic, webasto, lift, snorkel, trail ready bead locks, 2 sets of tires, ect

Fwiw steve, this one isn't locked either and I'm Not sure how a vehicle spending time in Canada is going to reduce its value. Most of the cruisers up here seem to have undercoating applied and because they're actually being driven and maintained are in far better mechanical condition than any fresh off the boat Jdm vehicle (tlc or otherwise) that has been sitting in a storage yard in Japan for the last 15 years.

Ouiser, I say keep it! You'll end up wanting one again anyways haha!

Depends on what you're after. For a trail rig, that sound perfect, but I'd rather have a factory 5 speed and factory turbo.

15 years in storage in japan would be preferable over 10 years in Canadian salt and snow. But that isn't the case on the best vehicles from japan. Not aware of many sitting in storage for 15 years as you claim. I'll trust my personal experience with the variety and quantity of rigs I've experienced, JDM, Canadian and otherwise. In the end, every one is cool in its way so not a bad one to have.

Nice truck and good luck with the sale. It looks like we have developing a huge price differential in the market as a result of the new eligibility to import into the USA. I think your price may have been the norm a couple years ago but that is quickly changing, especially for Canadian trucks. That truck for $9k in Seattle was a great buy from all outward appearances.

I'm biased of course, but I think the market will only go up. It may dip for a couple years, but they're not making 80s anymore. A few years from now, someone will kick themselves for not picking up this beauty at this price.

TTT. One last shot at selling this.

I agree that these Turbo Diesel HDJ81 will certainly go up in value like the 60-62 LC now, well I didn't wait for that so I am importing few and will keep the 1991 HDV81V with 5 Speed and part time 4WD with F&R Locks for myself...

GOOD Luck with the sale Awesome Truck

Added a 2.5 inch OME lift and Nokian Rotiiva AT 285s all around. It is no longer a daily driver but gets driven every couple weeks.

Giving this another shot. Bought the house, now I could use some cash to fix it up (who am I kidding, I'll just plow the cash back into my FJ40).

Most of those hdj81 that sell for the price range of 8-14k need alot of work that pictures can't describe. It adds up quickly. Condition is everything. Also everyone is different. What looks good to someone may not look good to others.
