looks like it may be snowing in Gorman / Hungry Valley / Frazier Park, according to weather reports. I may just go play in the snow a bit today or tomorrow...

add: I see some conflicting info about I5 being closed near Gorman. You may want to check. I may go in from the backcountry instead...

Maybe? How about absolutely! We had hail twice in Laguna Niguel yesterday. Very cold storm for SoCal.

Hatman, chains required going UP from the Flying J?

Passed by yesterday AM and saw all the news truck near the Flying J. Its like nobodys seen snow or something in LA.

No Chains Required. Today Not Too Bad Snow Come And Go.

Thanks. :D

:crybaby: It's still snowing up here. So far we gat about 6 inches. If you guys want to come up and do a snow run you better check with the park rangers. When I passed by today it was closed. The freeway is pretty bad between the Grapevine and Smoky Bear Road. I saw a couple of cars spin out on the freeway.

well, checked out the backroads North of Ojai all the way to Hungry Valley.
There was a fair amount of snow above 4000 ft. Not much on the asphalt itself though, but plenty on the sides. Was very nice and pretty up high. Hardly anybody away from I5 and Ojai. Spotted a guy in a 40 doing a bonfire in falling snow at the very end of a dirt road :)

Got some hail too on I5...

Unfortunately, as far as more technical trails, this was a bust. I tried to go up Lockwood Trail towards Miller, and ran into a closed gate. After checking at the rangers station, I found out that *all* the trails were closed in the area... Until May, she said... Well, I thought there might be a few trails closed with the snow, but all of them, all the time, in the winter... WTH?

Hungry Valley was open though.

This has been
posted
since 01 January and is the same policy that was in place last year. "Until May" is not correct either...

dang...
I can see that some trails could indeed get damaged easily in wet weather, so OK. But June 30? :frown:

Pne Mtn Club. A college buddy lived up there right out of school in the 1990's. It was the geodesic dome with the funky addition right at the FS boundary

last year we ran the trail on june 15th i we were the first one up on the trail... it was great, no dust like you get in the middle of summer
