Thanks to you all. Truck back from The Truck Shop and I'm pleased with the service. Friendly, efficient and fair pricing. My transmission problem found and fixed for $300 and a set of 4 Blisteines for $400 and installed for $90.

What was the problem?

Problem was code 47 "open circuit in CDL'. Cause was actuator sensor, also back up sensor replaced.

For anyone still curious about pricing, I just got my truck back from SD Trux and here's what i was charged.

$750 for:

Driver Side wheel bearing repack
Replace front and rear diff oil
Replace transfer case oil
Replace engine oil and filter
Replace transmission fluid
Replace brake fluid
Replace engine coolant
Front end alignment

Seems awful high to me. I had radiator replaced, coolant change, trans and transfer fluid change, new alternator, fan bracket, all pulleys and idlers and TB service done for $1000 I provided all parts but fluid. Maybe I am off base.

Hello everyone,

I typically stay off the forum for a number of reasons but was told by a customer I might want to take a look at this.

Allow me to defend or at least clarify myself in regards to some comments posted.

I have been in business for 17 years and certainly can't promise that I've always been in the most bubbly mood all the time but to suggest that I "yelled at a customer and said I would never work on his vehicle again if he brought in his own parts" is absurd. I am asked to install customer parts from time to time and always try to politely explain that installing customer parts is not part of this company's business model. Some exceptions are made and we do install a lot of customer provided aftermarket suspension parts. Other shops approach it differently and that is up to each individual shop.

"I don't think 100's should be modified" What! I drive a modified 100 myself and love it. Perhaps I will see MH_Stevens sometime as I live in the Bonsall area myself. The 100 certainly isn't like my 80 series but that's another story.

The above outline of work did include both driver's side and passenger side wheel bearing repack, seal replacement and retorque not just the driver's side. Loose wheel bearings were noticed during a pre-purchase inspection.

Price is always to be considered when we spend our hard earned money but comparing automotive service strictly on price is not always comparing "apples to apples"

Thank you for the opportunity to respond but after hearing I yelled at a customer and I don't think 100's should be modified I felt it necessary to provide my side.

Good to hear your side of the story. Always 2, of course.

Let's keep the back and forth at that folks. Let's not turn this into a "I said, he said" escalating kind of thing.
