What does your perfect cruiser build look like? THIS is mine. I’ve essentially built the lowest profile flat platform for an 80 out there. It works like a pickup truck bed as a daily, and a roomy sleeping platform for adventure, all while keeping all your essentials stored in the truck, ready to go!

Made from birch ply, 500lbs locking drawer slides, and pocket screw construction. This thing feels like part of the chassis. No squeaks or rattles… essentially monolithic. The l track allows you to tie down anything, anywhere, and hit the trail without anything shifting.

I’ve decided to commission some buildouts for my fellow cruiser heads! I built this setup for our HDJ80 and we have put it through multiple weeks of testing / camping and daily driver abuse and hauling. It has really proven to be something I’m proud of and would love to build for others.

The build thread for mine is here: 1993 HDJ80 Platform DIY build - Camping & Daily Hybrid use - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1993-hdj80-platform-diy-build-camping-daily-hybrid-use.1282795/

Shoot me a message and we can talk ideas, needs, wants, and wishes. These will be custom, one build at a time, so I’m all ears on what would make your dream build!

Cost? I’m not looking to make bank off of the first few builds. I still have some details to work out and things to learn, so a cheaper cost will reflect that: $5000 for the full platform as you see it (no stove… we can design it to accept whatever stove you prefer). $3000 for just the rear drawers if you want to keep your ears installed and don’t need a sleeping platform.

Let’s chat details! 813-731-1259

Wow this is really awesome! For sure adding this to my Christmas list. I will save your number, definitely will be chatting in the near future!😇

This is a really slick design and build. Maybe consider aluminum drawer fronts? At least on the drawer above the stove. ;)

This looks awesome! Wish I have the funds to get one built, still in the middle of just getting back on the road. Hope your project catches a lot of steam and pile on orders, who made the tailgate lids?

Thanks! I’ll be here!

Tailgate lid is by Huracan Fab. Awesome kit

Nice! Where in SoCal? I have some build out ideas

First platform delivered and installed! It fit like a glove and I couldn’t be more proud. Next up is a 100 series with a more ‘OEM’ approach… Matching grey vinyl and all.

Shoutout to my buddy Hunter, whop had access to this CNC machine and designed and cut these custom brass plaques. All individually numbered. It was the cherry on top, no doubt.

These look so killer in photos and in person! Keep up the good work

Cant wait to see what the 100 series looks like.

Prices adjusted in original post. The first customer build taught me a lot about time / value / material / tooling costs. These are meant to be bespoke and unique for each vehicle. Let’s build something perfect for your needs!

Thought I’d share V02 for my personal truck. We added a campteq poptop so the buildout design had to be completely different. We wanted a galley with a bunch, and an elevated work surface on the opposite side, but I also anted to lightweight daily usability as an option.

We opted for Aluboxes as the main storage because they are modular and I could remove them (and all of the weight in them) when we aren’t camping.

Everything else is simple birch plywood, all completely custom. We have been loving it thus far.
