I've heard both of these places do pretty good work, Man-A-Fre also has an immense parts department.

hope this helps some.

MAF does in house SOA's? I guess I'll call them tomorrow to find out for sure...

Your thread about how high a SOA stands :https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=89490 look at post #27 and #28 DBS311 responds that Man-A-Fre did his spring over axle; you even asked him who did it and he replied to you. Not being a butt just point out the reason I listed Man-A-Fre to do your SOA.

Later,

I went on the MAF site but didn't see anything about SOA's so I figured maybe the guy has an "in" with them so they hooked him up. So..."I guess I'll call them tomorrow to find out for sure"

Thanks for the info.

Oh ok, I was just pointing that out becasue I remembered reading that. One good person to talk to at Man-A-Fre is Steve I think he might be extension 5, I can't remember. He posts on the board as Steve-O. He is a great guy to talk to. Good luck on you Spring Over. I'm going to start mine in a month hopefully (summer break).

Mudrak Custom Cruisers did my SOA about six years ago. Awesome work, reasonable price, the best customer service. Drove from Phoenix to get it done there and never regretted it. I have about 60K miles on the SOA conversion, never had any issues, drives great.

I see a bunch of posts listing Mudrak for a dude in So cal...just remember that Cali is a very LONG state - that could be over 500 miles away from So-Cal...From what I have heard, it is worth the drive, but still it is a haul.

thanks for the heads up,,,but my choices are Utah and Colorado so I'm hoping someone in CA might be closer...I live AZ I haven't heard of anyone that does that in these parts.

Mudrak did quite a bit of work on my 60 - suspension, brakes, FF rear, H55F, Tcase rebuild, clutch, etc. He is good at it, honest, and is a dedicated cruiser guy. I like to visit the shop, stroll around oogling cruisers. He will also handle on any work on my 80 series.

Get a reverse RT plane ticket. Drive up, fly back, fly up, drive back. Nice road trip, good work.

Extension 105 actually.:D We will do SOA here sure, we just dont list it on the web for some reason. I will also say that Gary does great work as well, I'm sure you will be happy with either our shop or his. Heres a few shots of one we did a while ago on a 62.

I called after lunch I think you where on the other line, no worries I spoke to someone else there working parts. He took my name down and tele # to pass on to a fabricator guy that's out in Globe, AZ? I guess the main reason I was looking to for a shop to do a turn-key setup is because of the remounting/positioning of the front shock towers. I was under the impression that once the axle was cut and turned I would have to have to have the new shock mounts welded in position to start bolting things up. And since I don't have the capability of welding, I would have a cut'n turned axle but then hit the road block with the front shock mounts.

Sooo.....(sorry for the long story) MAF guy said you can remount the shocks in the original location. That you don't necessarily need new shock mounts unless you want to get a lot more travel. So has anyone ever done this? (I this might be another thread topic on itself)

Most people, I won't say all cause that is a generalization...go for new shock towers casuse the shocks then become the limit to articulation...You can always go with the ford towers and bolt them on and then drive to a local fab shop and have them burn em on...You should have lots of fab shops since desrt racing is very popular...just look for the guy with white fenders at the gas station...ask him who does his work....

Hey Steve-O, that's a sweet Cruiser. Whoops, I forgot it was mine. Wish you would have told me you guys took pics!!!

Wow those 33's look small.

As far as longer travel shocks, get some F250 shock towers and have them welded on. You can go to an Early Bronco site and most shops have them in stock for around $30-$40 IIRC.

That's a good looking FJ62 for sure, DBS311 you are a lucky guy.

I can also reccomend Mudrak. Great guy, good work, fair prices. I would trust his SOA with no worries at all.
