I have a badlands 12000 winch and wondered what battery would be a good replacement for the dead stock one with that winch ?

The local places I have to shop are
Orielys
Napa

Sears is a bit of a drive 1 1'2 hours each way but if its worth it I will do it.

I am not a member of sams or costco so I dont think I can buy there.

thanks

@jemsec @Dog are there Walmart AGM batteries that fit in the 100?

after calling walmart for there maxx 27f and being told it was in stock I drove down and they said oh we only have the 27 :(

I drove next door to the interstate dealer and got the mtp-27f was 132 out the door.

I don't know but they last about as long as higher priced batteries. I usually get about 3-5 years out of a $100.00 battery and subject them to many rough roads and non roads. You can buy a $200.00+ battery if you like but not me. They don't last any longer. I believe others are good but not much, if any, better. My opinion.

Oh, a trimmed piece of 1/4" or 3/8" non reinforced conveyor belt under the battery helps absorb a lot of shock and offers some shock absorption. I use it in all my vehicles.

I'm not sure I want a non sealed battery in my truck though.

The demands of a winch might do better with a deep cycle battery. How about the Optima Yellowtop Deep Cycle 27F from O'Reilly's? And FYI, I just killed yet another Sears DPM 31 in my LC. Those Diehard Platinum batteries apparently die easy if not kept charged correctly. In my experience, they sulphate up very easily and since they are sealed they can be difficult to de-sulphate.

I don't think I will be using the winch enough to hurt the battery. I dont get in the situation to need one very often if ever. its just nice to have in case the Oh Crud happens or someone else is in need.

As far as the oreilys they said it would be next week before they could get it and I needed it before the truck left me stranded.

I need a new one too and don't want to go to a 31 so I am following this thread.

I went with a pair of AGM from Batteries plus - they're Dekka's. Had the same in my 80 for 2 years and they were flawless. I did the Slee 31 kit but only used a 27 and the the Slee dual batt lit with a 24 ..... Batteries plus had the right orientation option on both, something msot stores didn't when I first looked.

the Dekka's are not cheap but I've had one in my 80 in the islands for 6 years and it starts every time after 4-6 months of sitting...
