So, I bought a K&N cold air intake from a fellow mud member. We both assumed that it would work on all 100 series years...I guess there is a difference when it comes to 2006/07 years. I knew there were some HP increases for the late model 100's...but didn't think it would be a big deal.
I hooked it all up (prior to realizing it wouldn't work) and the engine seemed to be struggling for air...and wouldn't stay on for more than 5 seconds at a time. It also was throwing check engine and maintenance required errors. The MAF sensor was the first thing I noticed to be different...but the way I had it rigged you would think it wouldn't have made a difference. The other difference I noticed was that the K&N tube had a place for 4 hose connections. The stock intake only had 3 hoses going in to it, so I figured capping off the extra hose spot on the K&N would solve this issue.
The way I had it installed didn't work...does anyone have any ideas that would make it functional for a 2006?
This is what K&N had to say when I emailed support:
Thank you for choosing K & N, unfortunately we don’t offer any intake system for your application and no other information available regarding production.
All K & N intake systems are tested and designed for each year, make and model vehicle. Although they might look similar to some application we don’t recommend use of any intake system on other than what it was designed for. The 57-9021 was only designed for the 99-2005 models. Computer programming and sensors are different from year to year following emission standards.

I have the stock intake installed again, so all is good....I'm just curious if I can make it work at this point
