Alright, I didnt search first but what are some of the best Southern California 4X4 trails? Where do you Drive? Anything good in the San Bernardino Mntns or LA Mntns? Deserts? Pismo? Where do you ride/Drive and why? Of course post pics if you want!!!

since I see you are in hesperia the best and closest one to you is the cleghorn ridge trail. just next exit down the 15 from the 138. Has some really tough sections and easy bypass sections

Then there is gorman/hungry valley up the 5 in the grape vine. Calico is up the 15 from you as well as some other trails near baker. Big Bear has tons of trails

Canyon Country - My Backdoor to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Thanks - I did do Pilot Rock Truck trail around Silverwood lake and Cleghorn was on the Itenirary but we just didnt make it. Had some night fishin to do at Hesperia Lake later in the day(Night). I pass that trail everyday going thru the pass to work and have wanted to try it but assumed it was just a glorified fire road. You say its got some tough spots thats great!. Im stock for now do you see a prob. with that on that trail? or should I wait for my Mild lift and 33s'? Hell half the fun is finding out right? Maybe ill take her on a friday after work. Thanks Guy

Dude your in cruiser wheeling heaven, Stodard Wells, good mix of trails, Johnson Valley, arguablly the toughtest wheeling concentration of trails in the US, Big Bear-John Bull-the mini Rubicon and a great mix of trails, Calico and the fender eating Dorean canyon and the Gatekeeper, dotn forget the mix of trails out at Randsburg area, Afton Canyon and Death Valley

Yeah, Grew up on bikes and rode this area a bit as a kid. Stoddard, Johnson Valley, Anderson Dry Lake, Wileys well, Moved here as a teen and Pops sold the bikes. A mans gotta pay the bills in hard times. Grew up (Kinda) ,had my own kids, bought the bikes and recently got the Cruiser. Ive been wanting to do Big Bear but from what I hear that may come after I upgrade the stock tires and get a little lift. Ive only got a little itch to do the Hammers in Johnson so I think a 3-4" lift with 33's will suit my purposes just fine. Im debating OME J/L and SLEE 4". Still researching Death Valley, Maybe next spring!

I have MAF 4" with ome, Toyo 35"s and lots of armor, great trucks, Slee very good but very$$$$$, if your gonna cruise and expand with the truck the OME route is the best, just have the front control arm brackets, no major issues and Ive run it everywhere

no, no problem on the cleghorn... like I said there are tons of bypasses, it is basically a fire road with little offshoots that run into the fire-road again. We took my father in law's stock 04 tundra up it and it did fine. things that looked too hard we skipped.... maybe he can go with you some time he lives in hesperia also

I'd stop by a sherrif station if I were you ... mostly they'd be just fire roads so it would be fine for a stock vehicle

Or if you got the time.... head east on the 210fwy exit azuza and head north. There is an offroad are there... no trials just mud boggin fun!!!! You can be stock for that

The Gorman camping areas were evacuated last night b/c of the fire up there.

I'm another one of those Hesperians. Cleghorn is a fun trail with only 3 pretty difficult spots that come to mind, depending on which direction you run it though. Very close is the Pinnacles trail, really fun with super steep hill climbs, doable without a locker or lift.

I run a stock 55 with 33's and all the trails in the San Berdoo mountains are doable and still fun. I often run with a friend in a stock wrangler with 31" tires and no lockers, and we get him home everytime. John Bull is a fun one, as is dishpan springs. However, dishpan has one spot that is pretty tough without a locker.

Holcolmb creek is the most scenic trail in that area and is completly doable in a stocker. Last summer some guy made it through in a stock f250. There are some good trails out near Pioneer Town also.

Most of the well-known Johnson Valley and Stoddard Valley stuff is too tough for a stock vehicle, but Achey-Breaky is doable with the bypasses (no bypasses necessary if you like dents).

Final note, Honda Valley, in Hesperia. This area is private property, but you can drive a street legal vehicle out there without any worries. There are not any established 4x4 specific routes, so find your own throught he maze of trails. There is one very tough future trail out there that has remained hidden for some reason. And finally, driving around the river bottom is fun. Just don't go into Deep Creek on the weekends unless you want a police encounter, it is permenantly closed.
