Over the past few days we’ve had a very unique pattern of weather resulting in more snow than I’ve ever seen in the mountains of Santa Barbara County. I work with the USFS through a non profit and frequently survey roads, clear boulders, and maintain miles of backcountry trail to preserve access to all.

Yesterday I took the family up to see the snow and we have about 8” of fresh powder over a few inches of base to play in and it was spectacular. There were some complaints about the traffic in the afternoon but seeing over 1000 people experience our Los Padres National Forest wilderness was such a reward and affirmation for the work our non profit does.

Where did you take the picture with the sign in it showing distances to other locations? I'm in Ventura, nearby.

i lived behind the mission, winter of 2000 and there was a dusting of snow sometime in january i think. people's minds melted as the snow did before the next day. I can't imagine how broken people's minds are with so much snow up there!

By noon on Saturday, 154 was bumper to bumper from State Street heading up. I was very glad I went early, around 7am.
