Grench's post above has a lot of great suggestions too!!! Good Luck. It'll make a great conversation piece when you're finished!!

Huge Thanks...! I actually have the big template. I am just getting nervous about the idea of intentionally putting holes in the truck and want to make sure I have the template positioned properly.

Everyone of us that have put on our own snorkel have faced that moment of truth when you start to drill holes in your perfectly good fender.

Trust the template. Inspect your alignment several times and then go for it. Make sure you tape extra cardboard all around where you plan to drill....the drill will slip at least a little on at least one hole. If you don't have the cardboard there you will scratch the @#$% out of your entire fender.

Thanx for the tips! And while my whole rig is lined & you can't scratch it I'll take preventative measures. Cheers.

Installed. The template lined up perfectly. The install took around 2 1/2 hours, and I even managed to get my arms in to fasten the rear bolts. It's shocking how easily a new bi-metal 3 1/2" hole saw cuts thru the fender. Here's a pic of the template, and another of the rig:

I just put mine on a week ago. How did you get the last nut on the bolt (the one way back in the back behind the antenna)? I simply didn't put it on because I couldn't reach it.

TexasJack,
I could not reach that bolt and my arms are too big to get close therefore I did not put it on... I have read other posts stating you can access through the antenna area. I am driving now and keeping an eye on it to make sure it is not a problem.

Exactlly how I did it.

I removed the antenae motor, and then it was easy to get to that bolt via the antenae access hole. Well my arms are kinda thin so it helped a bit.
