Above link is to comment about material quality. I am super unhappy about the antenna deal, but I have been happy with quality of ironman products. I have handled several pieces and currently run tbars and snorkel. I truly believe they are equivalent in quality to ARB products. That said, ironman does need to address their communications before all credibility is lost.

The quality might be sufficient, but it's not equivalent according to the designer. Anyway, if you're truly interested, sign up to lcool (you need to be a member to access the forums) and search. It's been discussed. Plenty of people happy with Chinese snorkels, plenty who'll only use Safari.

Per the guy who designed them, the new longer Safari offers increased air flow and forces removal of restrictive intake bottlenecks (that a lot of people in Oz do anyway) compared to the old one. On their test vehicle with the 1HD-FTE the new snorkel gave increases of 10.73hp over stock (no snorkel). Not sure how much the old snorkel gave.

The Safari plastic vs. competitor plastic has been discussed many times on lcool. It's even led to the website that I'm sure many of you have seen, Don't Get Burnt - Low Quality Snorkel Copies. However, many people seem to have had good luck with Chinese snorkels too, so YMMV.

I have seen an increase in mileage since I put the snorkel on...I get about 20-25 extra miles per tank. Comes out to about 1 mpg. I know it does not seem like much but thats about 100 miles every 5 tanks...a reasonable difference IMO. Of course after 1200 miles of extra driving then the snorkel will have paid for itself even though it takes a while haha
