Sneak Peak at next Gen 2010 4Runner

For those not aware, there been much mystery as to what the next gen 4-runner will be like; will it go soft, or even if there will be one. This Car & Driver report says thay are keeping body-on-frame and likening it to an 'FJ Cruiser with 4 doors' . Page also has 21 photos. Says they are doing away with the V8 engine going with V6 and V4 (ugh). Will have 20 inch wheels.

The news for Cruisers is looking up too. The 2010 70 series models available down-under this year will be available with airbags and will be compliant with current emmission standards in Europe

However, the challenge may be Toyota North America rather than the DOT or EPA. The original 70 series (~1984-1985) was designed and built to pass US EPA & DOT standards, but Toyota North America opt'd not to offer them. Time to wait and watch what they do this time.

Toyota needs to survey current cruiser owners. Soon all we will get is fiberglass ,mall cruisers,for 75,000 dollars.They need to think diesel,5 speed ,front and rear lockers,ext. fuel tanks etc. Mike
