Bounce'em if you gott'em.... well I gott'em so I bounced'em. I launched my entire wagon in the air yesterday at Morris Mountain while trying to "bump" a rock and a hard place. end result? Short side axle shaft in the semi-float rear.... and they said it couldn't be done. snapped on the landing. It was a 9.7 landing since there was a little splash. Even with seat belts mine and Heckler's head hit the roof.
Pics will follow, but it'll be late tonight since they're not mine.

Now what to do? I WILL push the rig farther than I did this weekend, which was waaaaay far on alot of obstacles and trails that I've never done (see: level 4+ trails), so should I look into a full float? It wasn't fun keeping the entire wheel from coming out for 3 hours trying to get out to camp. Not to mention wait for a friend with a trailer, not to mention it's my daily.
I know 91/92 15 inch wheels don't fit the 93-97 rear calipers and I've read way more threads than I care to hear about that.... but what else can I look forward to if I decide to buy a full float? upgrade MC because of rear discs? reroute the e-brake cable?
I've read all the threads from people who have theories, I need input for someone who has done this swap... a little real-world experience in the swap. If the swap will never be smooth, i.e brakes will never be good, then i dont thnik I'll do it. But who's done it?

Main reason for this thread is pics and the fact that alot of people say it's hard to break 80 series axle shafts.... pics are coming... it was fun to say the least.

The full float will work better for you. I would also add the poly performance cromo axle shafts, and possibly the ARP axle studs. I don't think that there are high strength semi-float shafts available for this axle.

Then, avoid jumping the Cruiser.

What kind of locker do you have? If none-I would get an ARB so you can lock up and avoid some of the spin that likely caused this problem.

Aussie, a spin was not the issue. A hard rock was.

Finally got the short broken end out yesterday, had to pull the entire dif to pound out the broken side since when it twisted it also expanded in the carrier
... major carnage...

You can fit 15's with the right backspacing and wheel combination.
