I for the most part agree. I won't go out of my way to kill one in the road, but I also won't move one out of the road like I will others.RATTLESNAKES EAT CUTE, SMALL MAMMALS THAT CARRY HANTA VIRUS AND BUBONIC PLAGUE. Option A: Deal with an invisible killer. Option B: Encounter a creature you can see and is usually polite enough to give away its location. Venomous snakes are very simple. The average adult rattlesnake has a brain the size of a pea. They envenomate for two reasons: To defend themselves or obtain a meal. Despite having a pea brain, wild rattlesnakes differentiate between predators and prey. Us humans have a brain about 3/4 the size of a cantaloupe. If only 10% of our brain is used, it is roughly the size of a racquetball.... Best advice: Watch where you and others are walking and reaching, leave rattlesnakes alone, and tip your hat to mother nature's mouse trap. Don't drink a bunch of booze and grab one with your hands. This is how the vast majority of bites occur in the US. If you hear their audible warning coming from within your vehicle, STAY AWAY. Use it as an excuse to buy a new 4WD.

Keeping children and dogs safe from rattlesnakes on your property is very important. Rattlesnakes need food and shelter. Keeping animal feed such as dog and cat food in a secure, rodent-proof container is helpful. Eliminating crevices rattlesnakes can use for shelter is good. Cats are great for rodent control. Keeping grass and other vegetation short makes rattlesnakes more visible. As always, keep an eye out for uninvited venomous guests.I for the most part agree. I don't like them on my property. I know to watch for them for the most part, but kids and dogs aren't always paying much attention. I do my best to keep the rodent population down using cats around here.
Thanks for reminding me to add mowing the weeds to my long weekend list of chores. It's a bit deep in my East Mountain meadow property, especially around the house where the roof runoff concentrates water (and thus weeds).Keeping children and dogs safe from rattlesnakes on your property is very important. I'd much rather hang out with real animals instead of the two-legged city dwelling wildlifeThere's always the asphalt and concrete jungle with bipedal wildlife option.![]()
