A few guys just decided that a 4 wheel trip to Smiley rock near Jerome would be a nice break in the routine. Some minor to moderate technical challenges so need at least a lift, tires.

Meeting this Sunday at 8AM at the Dennys behind the 4 brothers gas station on the NE corner of I-17 and Carefree highway (actually on the NE corner of the first intersection East on Carefree hwy.)

Dont know how long we will be gone or where exactly will end up, just looking to get out for the day and enjoy the outdoors.

If inclined, any and all are welcome to join in.

I might be in. Trying to get over a cold. Fresh air might do some good.

You should Otter...

Fyi. A single locker wouldnt hurt.

I also have an empty pass seat if someone wants to copilot

Uh, no locker. Is your warning about needing lifts, tires and lockers a reflex reaction to all of the "stocker-friendly" runs that turned out to be not so much?

If one was coming down from Flagstaff, where would you be at a certain time?

I was fine without a locker on this trail. It's a fun ride with about a 1/2 mile rocky wash. I have 315's for tires though. My father-in-law was with us and made it through with 265/75/16 and 3" lift in his 4Runner. He's locked but didn't have any difficulties, just needed some careful tire placement. We're heading up to Crown King on Sunday, otherwise we'd join in. Have fun!

 true....I chose the wording "wouldnt hurt" but good driving skills without a locker would be fine.

Dave, Ill call you later and see if there is a turnoff on the way up (69 or 260?) we can guesstimate a time for meeting.

Don't wait on me in the morning. I'll have to catch the next run.

Have fun.

Hi Eric, Message me your celly. I'm trying to make some arrangements so I can meet up with you. I'll be coming from Sedona so will probably meet you in Jerome.

In cottonwood gassi.g up now. Ill call

Eric, Not going to make it today :frown:. Plans fell through. Hope you have a fun time!!

It was a great day with much of the run averaging between 6-7K feet and the temps and scenery were fantastic.

Got into the pines and some fall colors still lingering. Found the smiley rock (assisted in carving from a miner in the area from the late 1800's rumor has it).

Got into some rock garden play that was enhanced by such a nice day, good company, and the ponderosa pines. Aired up and hit the road through Cortes Junction on the way out. Nice new highway to drive on :D

I need to check the boards more regularly before the weekends! Looks like a great time, and the weather was perfect for getting out. Thanks for posting pictures,
