smaller oil filter?

I use alot of filters the same size . All the cruisers get the same on as does my ford van.
I have been using Motorcraft FL1A(rates high on the filter web site) and Purolator 30001 . I always pick them up on sale when they have the 2 for $4 at the local automotive retard store . :rolleyes:
I bought a bunch of the OE+ filters from Bjowett and just started using them .
I like the filter It has the O ring style seal and the open end is covered so it wont dryout or rust when stored . Right now I have them on the 92 and 96 and the van . Much easier to take off when time as the O ring dosnt stick to the block like the flat cut units on the store units .
So far Ive been happy with them and thing after the new year I'll be ordering more from him :D
 
If you want to stick with a smaller filter, try the Motorcraft FL-400S. A little larger than the small Toyota filter and a good silicone ADBV. The FL-300 is the same diameter as the large Toyota, just shorter and with a nitrile ADBV.

Both can be purchased in unlimited quantities (!) at Wally World for under $3.

At least on the 22r series engines, startup rattle is the t-chain rattling until the oil pressure is high enough for the tensioner to remove the slack. When it keeps banging, it means the t-chain is about to go and needs to be changed ASAP. Also, if it keeps banging, it can cut through coolant lines in the block. Notice that over time, Toyota cheapened the t-chains. First, they had the double sprocket/chain setup...bulletproof. Then they went to the single chain, then the single chain w/ plastic guides, then the belt!
