We've made it to Kansas driving Hwy. 50. Deo would love this hwy., every small town has a old truck junk yard and some type of odd building from the past. We stopped at a building made of petrified wood and took some pictures if she worked the thing right. I'll post them up when we get home.

J Mack mentioned things he's changing for the next trip, we have a bunch to change, also. Very expensive discussion, but we had fun redesigning the wagon for the type trip we do with the group, set up and take down every night. Some priorities change as you get older and I'm trying to find a happy medium, at least I'll have every piece of equipment for every camping situation.

I'm blaming J Mack this time! :)

Made it home! 15 days on the road and living out of the wagon. I feel bad about the sparkplug, but should be a fun winter project and a good time to change out a few things, water pump, etc.

4,427 miles round trip and had a blast every mile of it.
Enjoyed my time with you and Jeri, as well as the rest of the gang, thanks for making me feel so welcome

How are the goats? Are they mad at you for leaving?

All are fine, but I'll pay tomorrow with extra long head rubs. We put the house dog in with the goats and the guard dog, so she was ready to get on the couch. Good to be home.

Yes they do, but would shoot my $5,000 budget and I just ordered my new J Mack jet boil kit, thanks!
What about a GPS with some maps?
How did the paper maps work out for the rest of the drive home?

Some type of GPS is in order, but we managed to not get lost with the paper maps, until this morning, in the dark I missed a turn and added a ton of miles to the end of the trip. We do need to get with the rest of the world and learn some computer skills. So much and so little time. Your tablet saved our bacon multiple times and proved to be a good asset.

Ok let's not rush into this.
Ask Mrs. Scraps to turn on the TV for you( it's the magic picture box in your living room) and checkout "Idaho the movie" on amazon.
You watch that show and pick a few places that interests you, I'll buy a GPS exactly like mine and get it setup for you then you and your bride come out and we'll spend a month learning together how to get around this great state.
It will be good practice for our alaska trip in two years.

Oh crap did someone say Alaska? That is a bucket list for me. I have nothing planned or any ideas other than putting my pig and my ass in that state.

Ditto to Alaska! Drive one way all the way to the Arctic Circle, then treat ourselves and our Pigs to a boat ride back to Seattle. We’ve also kicked around a Baja excursion.

I've been talking to my friend and oldest son about a tag team crew going with me to Alaska. I'd like to take at least a couple months to drive up and back with my wife flying in to meet me then my son for a couple weeks, etc. Nobody could put up with me for the whole two months. I want to go up through Canada and see some of that country as well. Testing our rigs and equipment out on these short pig parties is a good way to see what works and what doesn't and adding equipment to make it a doable trip without living in misery the entire time.

Showers will cost $5 on the trip, just say'n :)

I admire your ambition. I'm afraid I would need at minimum an Airstream being pulled by something other than my pig. Maybe I could just take a Pig Calendar with me?

Not a trip for everyone, and as I grow older my comfort needs have changed as well. My system of heavy camping boxes and tent has to change for a trip like this, but we're close to finding the right system for us. Around five nights camping then look for a motel if possible to wash cloths, eat out and relax then back at it. Traveling slow and looking around is how I would like to see Alaska, somewhere between J Mack and Cruiserjunktion. :)

We'll send you post cards! :)

I'll admit watching you navigate with your linen maps and sexton was entertaining but if we embrace just a little bit of modern technology and take just a few less wrong turns we could probably knock off some travel time to Alaska and not look like an Amish caravan.
