The shop just called and got it in the bay to work on. It's a tight fit on that side, so see what happens. I've put helicoils in the # 3 cylinder on some VWs before that lasted as long as I owned them. Worse case I pull the coil pack and injector wire and drive it home.

All done! So for the room, vehicle fix, etc. only cost me @ $250. The helicoil repair was only $100. I'm so happy it turned out positive and we can get back to exploring Co. in the morning. Looks like I'll be pulling off the cylinder head this Winter or driving to Id. for a 4bt transplant. :)

oh No! i love your rig, dont make it another smokey Pig-not that there is any problem with that!

Nah, it'll take more than a helicoil for me to pull the whole motor, for now. :)
I told you let me drive your pig for a day and I'd blow it up for you and we could justify the 4BT swap to Mrs Scrap.
You managed to blow the LS up without my help so I say this is the perfect time to break the 82 MPH barrier and turn this into the " NOT SO Slow 71"
It's like less than $5000.00 and we're doing it for the kids, who can say no to that?

In honor of two of my favorite pigs I'm going to make my pig a hybrid. You know, part LS, part 4bt. 4bt for off idle torque and then switch to LS for the 160 mph top speed. And also the LS for the Starbucks drive through so they can hear me order my :cat: drink.

I rode in J Mack's wagon on this trip and honestly it's not any nosier than most inside the cab. You can hear the diesel rattle standing outside, but inside she's smooth when driving. I'm sticking with the Chevy for now it has somewhere around 100,000 miles, so maybe in another 100,000 unless I change my mind. :)

Leaving Steamboat we drove up to Leadville at over 10,000 ft. and the wagon was rolling. 👍 After walking around there we headed down to the Great Sand Dunes park. Deo had stopped there and we wanted to see it. We're taking our time and driving back across Kansas on Hwy. 50, a secondary highway with small towns along the way. Screw the camera! Jeri is taking pictures with her (device)? whatever you call them and I'll see if my daughter will transfer them at home to the computer.

I miss my camera and the wall phone. We bought some flip phones so people can stay in touch and they haven't rung in two weeks. 🤷‍♂️
