Nothing like being retired. Come and go as you please with nobody making your plans for you. I think it best to wait until you're free and then take your time traveling. Alaska demands, no deserves more than a few weeks.

I agree. I get lots of vacation and we were taking several 1 and 2 weeks trips a year to get out of the magic Kingdom every few weeks but I guess until this covid crisis calms down we'll probably travel much less. We were seriously toying with Australia last year but came to the same conclusion. You probably need at least a month and maybe more if you include New Zealand; unless you're just doing the tourist, tick the box type of travel.

I can imagine a month in Alaska would be spectacular and you really need a week to get there and get back......or more.

That's what I'm thinking, but hard to plan that much time away from the farm. Now that we have a couple grandsons living on the place, feeding and watering the animals should get worked out.

I want in on the AK trip.

Skinny dip in Artic Ocean. Take the Canadian route so can put a tire in the water.

I can maybe get 3-4 weeks of leave. I’m ready to retire but they keep dangling the carrot and golden handcuffs. The two month trips are a few years out.

AK trip?

Dad is up in AK (no Mom jokes here). He used to have a B&B so he knows all the fishing and bear-watching charters.
If this whole Covid business is resolved next summer we will be going up there for his 80th...

Heading out Tuesday to pick up our new roof top tent (Oklahoma City) . We just bought an Alpha tent made by the Bush Company out of S. Africa. This tent is perfect for the rack I have, the dimensions are spot on.

I hope this solves our camping hassles of packing up every morning on the fly and trying to keep up the west coast weirdos. :)

As you know, that's the biggest problem of a RTT. Up and down the ladder, I'll just have to stop drinking early enough to drain the radiator for at least a few hours sleep. :)

I guess you guys didn't read how liberated I am dribbling on my shoes, just say'n. :)
Three words. Pilot relief tube. Friend of mine (also a Budweiser drinker) installed one in his van for weekly drives from Shreveport to Fort Worth.

After 4 years of penthouse camping I’ve found up and down the ladder is easier than getting up off the ground or our old low cots.
Also a lot less complicated than our hunting home for nine nights starting Thursday. Wood burning cylinder stove will get a workout with low temps expected to be single digits some of those nights.

Bunk-bed cot setup?! Never seen the likes!

Went looking for who the distributor in OKC is and found this.
