OK Im finally getting around to building my sliders. I have all of the materials and means necessary and have the mounting plates already fabricated. What I lack is a tubing bender. Anyone know of a vendor or other source local to N Ga to take care of this for me?

What size of DOM tubing are you using? If you are using a size that Chuck, Gordon or Josh/John have dies for, they may have the required equipment. Plus, ACC is a fully equipped local shop that can handle this work and a lot more. You have a number of options within the local Cruiser community.

I dont have DOM tubing but I have 1 1/2" Schedule 40 pipe which has a .145 wall which is not to far off the .187 wall on the other. The O.D. is 1 7/8". I considered calling ACC but thought I would try to see if there was a closer source first.

I am not an expert on tubing benders ...

However, it was my understanding that using pipe in a tubing bender was not good for the dies. If that is correct, you may have challenges in finding someone willing to take on your project. You may want to verify that. Good luck

Alright I spoke with ACC and may ultimately end up going with them even though they are across the hemisphere from me, unless a closer source arises. They clarified the pipe dilemma as that it would not be recommended on a constant basis. Also most pipe benders (including theirs) has a wall limit of .120, so essentially they have talked me into a 1 3/4" / .120 wall DOM which should be as strong as or stronger that the original piece. Thanks for the advise!

call Justin at Off road outfitters right around the corner from you, can't be 5 mins from your house. He's usually at his shop until about 2:00 on Sats.

I considered that but I met him when I first got my FJ and he wasnt the most personable. Thought maybe it was because he was mostly a jeep shop? Maybe I just caught him on a bad day but he had little to no advice to offer.
