My truck has been on jack stands for 12 days as a repair -- ironically caused by a different, earlier repair -- led to some preventative maintenance which led to more preventative maintenance which led to, well, you get the idea. Sourcing the right tools and parts, and struggling to reinstall the inner wheel bearing races account for the time. I've also been waiting for a new batch of Spindle Grease Tools to come out of Slee's shop and while there's one on the way to me here in Maryland it won't be here until Monday at the earliest. I'd like to get my truck buttoned up and back on the road before then.

Does anyone within an hour of the Frederick, MD, Baltimore, MD, or Washington, D.C., areas have Slee's tool I could borrow? Send me an email at brianlausch [at] me [dot] [com].

P.S. I've read about Phil's method, however, I would prefer to use the Slee tool and know for sure that there's a proper amount of grease in the spindle bushing.

Thanks in advance.

With the hub apart you can grease it before you put it back together.

True, the hub is apart, but the drive shaft is still in the steering knuckle. So, to grease the spindle bushing I would push the shaft inboard and grease the bushing from the back side of the steering knuckle, which is essentially Phil's method. Unless I'm missing something.
