Yesterday I finally had all the parts to start lifting the family truckster, so I spent last night swapping the springs, shocks, and upper control arms.

I'm not entirely happy with the rake. There was a fair amount of rubbing going on up front with the 285/75-18 Wranglers until I had it aligned and started cutting the factory fender liners away. I lifted the rear wheels with a forklift and they tucked up into the wheel wells nicely but for the rear mudflap, so it'll be coming off.

I have the benefit of a garage full of metalworking tools, so I'll wind up making some new fender liners when I make the bumpers.

Nice. What suspension setup did you go with?

Which ones the 2.5s with remote resis? Did you get the comp adjusters? Toyota has OEM front spacers, 3/8" I believe. Would level your truck out nicely and your springs will settle in a few weeks, plus the weight of your pending bumpers, etc... I'm sure the lift won't be so dramatic soon.

I actually want the Kings, do a fair bit of dessert driving at speed. What don't you like about them?

WOW!!! What a BEAST!!! What width and offset are those wheels? Did you add larger bump stops? I would def slap the Toyota spring spacers up front to level that rake out a bit.

Yes, they're the 2.5" with remote reservoirs and compression adjusters (Part Numbers 25001-266A and 25001-267A) with their recommended 600-pound springs. I was tempted to go to 700, but maybe the next set.

The ride quality is very good, and all around they're nice components, but their initial quality and customer support are not in line with their pricing. Upon opening the box for the front, I was presented with a leaking left shock and a right shock with a gouged upper mount and cracked powdercoating at various places on the spring. Before ordering I was told that I could trade the springs for a different rate at no cost provided they were in like-new condition. They weren't even delivered to me in like-new condition.

The front reservoir brackets were mis-labeled left and right, which would not have been a big deal if there were instructions included with the product, but there weren't any. It wasn't until after asking about it, receiving no response, cutting my brackets apart, and TIG welding them back together in a manner that made sense did they send me an image with the correct side-to-side orientation.

When I called King to talk about the leaking shock, the customer service agent was very helpful, but his hands are bound with respect to actually solving problems. He had to go to his supervisor to get authorization to get the shock back, which took some time. After receiving the shock, they sat on it for approximately five business days. I was told the delay was due to someone being out sick.

I understand that I'm not a large racing team placing five-figure orders, but if a company wants to engage in the onesies and twosies market, the company needs to do so with the understanding that an element of buying premium products is an expectation of premium service. It took me getting upset for them to offer up a new front set in exchange for the two defective units sent to me initially. It was as if their quality control was out sick the day my set was packaged.

The wheels are 18x8.5 ET50. I have 1.25" spacers, making my effective offset roughly 18. They fit well.

I haven't made bump stops yet because I wanted to get everything set up to take measurements.

Sorry to hear about your experience with king. So far my dealings with Icon have been outstanding. Customer service has been spot on and the ride quality is phenomenal.

Recommend them in case you ever need to replace.

Looking Great !! really like those rims on your rig.... sorry to hear of the isues with King - they seem to have dropped off on customer service recently based on what I hear from the few folks I know who are running them on Raptors and a few mud folks..... can't say enough good about Icon as TexAz noted..... third set and happy as could be.

Did you do UCA's ?

What size tires are those? they look awfully close to 35's... I think they look awesome, by the way...but what size/model are they?

HUGE!!! AWESOME!!! TONKA Truck for big boys!!!

Thanks for the compliments, guys. It'll come together soon enough. I've already bought steel for the sliders and aluminum for the bumpers. It'll be different when it's done.

Thanks. The wheels were a pretty good score, and I like the fact that I've never seen them on another Land Cruiser. In fact, I've only seen them on one Tundra in the wild, and that was after buying the wheels.

Your question caused me to go outside and measure them. They're 35.875 inches. That didn't match the measurement I took when I got the tires mounted, but now that they're on the truck, I measured all four, and that's the height of each.

Now that I know I'm running nearly a 36, the fender liner butchery doesn't feel so bad.

I'd look into the oem spacer. Besides the odd rake it looks great though

Thanks. Do you happen to have a part number for the spacer?

@200 Custodian what is the fender to center of hub height.

Interested to see where you are at before adding spacers. The rear looks really high. What Springs did you go with?

just curious to know with the 285/75/18 there was no rubbing once the fenders were cut. How much did you have to cut and do you have pics?

also did it rub on the KDSS sway bars? Sweet setup. I have a 16 and was trying to figure out the tires once i put a 2 inch lift as well. Please let me know. :)

If you read above they're actually over a 35!
