Slow acceleration? Rough idle with minimal rpm movement? bad gas mileage?

But i have noticed the acceleration is getting slower and my mileage has gone down and i am still driving the same distance and way i have always driven. Honestly i am thinking that this is the original carb and its never been rebuilt. So 21 years and 202K miles later...maybe it is time to get a rebuild.

take a look at the carb, if the bore on the driverside is nice and clean.......the secondaries are not working.

200k..........yep it needs some love ;)

Black splashy crap coming out of your tail pipe at start up, accel pump not working, or if it's been on the truck for over 100k miles.

I'd say slow acceleration comes with owning a 60. :D

Hmmmm....Ive got that black splashy crap goin' on like mad. Made a big black spot on the side of my old house. Wifey got pissed at that 'cause we were renting from her parents...and I didn't clean it off forever. I've got hesitation like mad goin' on as well. I've been thinkin' it needs rebuilt, but haven't sprung for it yet, but it's on the top of the list of things to do. And it's not something I feel like attempting to do on my own at this point in life. Not to mention I paid to have it done 3 years/25,000 miles ago...over $500 at that! Anybody in SLC want to know where NOT to go to get your junk worked on, just talk to me...

Hey Ferg! Any chance that was Carburetor Exchange? I went there based on a local garage’s recommendation. $230.00 bucks and 2 months later I had another mechanic tell me that I needed a carb rebuilt and that Carburetor Exchange was the worst place to take it. Arrrgh!!!
