i can imagine, the RR itself doesn't do much for me, i'm still building my own RR, just using the OEM mounts that bolt to and support from the roof panel

Interesting how these are the more common type that grab the gutter rail, must be only the troopy with the high roof that has room to insert the backing plates for the bolt through type .

I don't think they were factory, at least i haven't seen them in the catalogue for 77s or 70s... i could be wrong, but maybe they were just a popular aftermarket accessory in Japan, possibly even offered at the dealership like many accessories still are in australia. the bottom left mount covers the diesel badge which wold indicate to me that it wasn't OEM.

The front, middle and rear are slightly different in the height the rubber support sits

The rubberised spacer that sits between the support and body

The bracket that goes inside... the angled top is so it doesn't fall down further than where it should sit behind the pillar

For anyone interested in the low roof (non-troopy) version, I saw cruiser parts had a pallet of brand new factory racks on their facebook page. I think they wanted $400 a piece for them. Just an FYI.

Late to the party. I saw this one last December in Japan. Those side steps are bolted in, i.e., big holes were drilled into the sheet metal. I’m not sure but I think the rack was also bolted in.

This one was special ordered by someone in northern Japan and purchased through the U.A.E. This in one of the only dealers in the Tokyo area that can import new Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series models. They aren’t cheap but they are brand new and left-hand drive.
