hello all,
i'm looking for a fix for a loose side view mirror witha stripped female nut thingy that connects the actual mirror to the post. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, chris

Chris- I posted a while back about replacing the mirror motor with one from the same vintage 4-runner, which is probably easier to find in a pick n' pull. The tabs broke off of mine. I just recently discovered that a mirror from a Toyota van has the same motor, and is also easily replaceable. All that said (or written) mine broke again, after being replaced, and started wobbling even worse than before, so I epoxied it in, and it's now great. My suggestion is to do the same. :cheers:Ned

i'm sorry, it's an '85 fj60, so no motor, i should have specified, the mirror mounts to the post with a ball socket type setup, that ball/socket is held together with a bolt threaded into a threaded sleeve(nut?) with a spring in between holding tension and the mirror in place. the threaded sleeve is stripped out so there is nothing holding the mirror to the post. thanks, chris

I've got a pair of nice 60 mirrors (no screws though) $20 + shipping?

tough to fix that...

that happened to mine a while back (tightened just a tad too much)...I couldn't repair it, so I got a used replacement.

HTH
