Whoever that was, it mustve been a 1KZ-T powered prado.
I was heading down the #1 towards hope and just caught a Prado passing me, guy waved...
My truck tops out at about 100km/h (gears, revs at 2800 @ 105km/h )
He was doin about 100, me about 90-95. Straight and flat. I noticed when he gunned it, it POURED black out the back. Like a cloud. seemed like it had some good power though. We got to the snowshed bear tunnel, and the truck did quite well on that hill, which is the hill i blew my first headgasket on my 2l-te a year back. I passed him of course, slowed down just enough to wave and continued on. He tried to catch me all the way to merrit, and probably couldve if it werent for the hills.

He peeled off at merrit and i went to kamloops. What Im wondering is, does the 1KZ-T size up to the 3b turbo? Or maybe it was a NA 1KZ? considering the amount of black pouring out, he couldnt have been running much boost if any. wish i had a picture or video. He was rollin toyota coal.

Anyways, if youre reading this, youre truck did pretty well on the prado killing highway! cheers!

And people wonder why their 1kz heads crack? I bet if that driver had a pyro and an understanding of what the numbers meant he would have slowed down and made it more of a priority to get his engine serviced.

Always cool to see another cruiser though...

About the power comparison between the two engines, the interwebs say:

1kzt makes 125hp @ 3600rpm and 211 ft/lb @ 2000rpm.

13bt makes 120hp @ 3400rpm and 210 ft/lb @ 2000rpm.

I'd say the 13bt has more power potential with an increase in boost though, as it has a displacement advantage over the 1kzt. And the fact that you started with a 3B which has higher compression than a 13B-t which puts you at a further advantage. You're probably making a lot more power than both the 1kzt and the 13bt.
