97 40th anniversary, 202K miles, lockers asking 5995 but is in Portland Oregon.

62 just isn't quite cutting it.

Guy is an auction dealer doesnt' know anything about past history. Said had it checked over by a mechanic and all was good (Wow....that makes me feel good). But anyway...thoughts? Wife wants an SUV she can use instead of my truck and when I'm gone and her car isn't cutting it. Plus it woudl be a lot more comfortable for the expiditon trips. I love the 62 but it just isnt' quite doing it for her and she is bleeding on my floor quite a bit.

1997 LAND CRUISER 40th ANNIVERSARY TOYOTA

I was looking in Portland for a 100 series for my mom and came by this. I haven't seriously been looking around that much but seemed like a good deal minus the shipping. Fits the wife's bill perfectly options and condition wise and I'm glad it has lockers.

WOW - I wish I could, that looks very good to me. Are you able to test drive and check it out? sorry, cannot remember where you are at this point :)

Any status update on the Columbia cruiser?

Brad

Still working on the 43...hope to have it this year mostly intact.

I have some freinds that could go check it out but they aren't exactly car savy and my dad is a good 4 hours away from the car.

I mean I really love the 62 in my garage and it woudl make an excellent rig over all. But this just seems a bit more right.

Clean looking truck! Long ways away though, would you drive it back for Oregon?

No way...it would cost more in gas and hotel and plane ticket then just to pay to drive that thing back. I think shipping would be just over a grand I bet.

Is the head gasket thing really something to worry about if I don't know past history?

as discussed earlier today you could always ask the seller to supply you a oil sample to test, if they say no it might be worth staying away from.

Did you check out his website? He has a 1999 LC with 97k for sale-$12999. Looks nice-don't care for the bling wheels, but car looks good.
The 97 looks good, but with out being able to put my hands on it or someone I could trust-I would hesitate on pulling the trigger. The mileage wouldn't bother me if I knew some if the history.
I have been looking to for a DD for the wife and I have also decided on a 100 series vs an 80.
I'll be traveling out to north west next month if you're still interested I can try and check it out for you.

I would be hesitant to buy a truck without personally looking over it. I would be worried even if you have someone out there look it over and seems fine, then you pay everything to get it here and then find stuff you don't like about it. Cruisers are pretty robust and you can fix stuff, so I wouldn't worry about little things, but there's nothing like seeing the truck in person before handing over the cash. Unless you're in a big hurry, be patient and wait for one to come up around here.

The local chapter might be able to recommend a mechanic that you could hire to go check it out.

From what I've read, the HG is around $1400 if you do it, or 2500-3500 if someone else does it.

Also check to see if Florida member matt mcinnis (sp?) has sold his yet. Lifted and locked and looking good w/ 250+ miles but a new motor with a lil over 100k and cruiserhead owned/pm'd for 8900 ish. It has been his wife morgans dd.

Just got off of the phone with Ben who has the built 80 in Wake/Raleigh area for sale on Mud. It by no means meets my wifes criteria for the Land Cruiser she wants but does for me and everything above. I think I can meet her intention though by putting in a new windsheild, redoing the interior with new leather, putting a storage box/sleeping area in the rear with new carpets to cover the bedliner and practicing some of my body work skills and paint, as I have access to a paint shop. We will see about the body work though...last on the list. I figure the supercharger will make it driveable enough around town and up the roads. Its not ever going to be anything like Johns, but since we are camping in the same spot this weekend I'm sure I will have plenty of inspiration right in front of me.

I'm going to go check it out tomorrow and who knows if I can work some magic with the princess, and budget maybe this might be comming to the ride this weekend.
