No. Apply grease to the groove.
 
Slee sells a spindle bearing grease tool (Slee - Drivetrain - Drive Train Service Parts, top of page), and there are posts here for making a homemade version for less if you want to search for a cheaper route. Grease in the groove for sure, but make sure that bearing is oozing as well.
