Should I be worried about 7 people and luggage in my 05?

those are very handy, had one prior to the box. you can also get a soft cargo bag that is designed for them and is weatherproof which is nice if you run into rain/snow.

I have this one sitting in the garage, new never used if you want it, $40 plus the ride.

I'm in PA...so it would be about $700 in gas haha! But thank you anyway.

It's gotta be really heavy, or I'd suggest shipping and paypal you the money.

Sold. PM me your paypal info please.

Thanks.

highonpottery got me on the hitch cargo carrier for a hundred bucks. With the dog and kid, I know I'll get more than 1 use out of it.

$100!? Wow, I think I paid only like $55 after coupon. Never go to HF without one. In just one newspaper you can usually find at least 3 20% off coupons. Sometimes I find the 25% off one in magazine ads.

Either way, you can use it and sell it on CL for what you paid if you don't like it. Just be aware of whatever you load in front of the tailpipe :)

Well I was figuring with the shipping, some ratchet straps and a bag...but Ali has cured that need for me. Thanks!

Guess I could weld a piece of metal on there as kind of a buffer. Were there any solutions to that posted?

if you can weld, i'd chop the cargo rack's male hitch input and re-weld with a bend in it (or chop and replace with thicker 2x2 tube underneath).
the bottom of the cargo rack and exhaust line up fairly well, so 2" is a good start. don't go too high or you'll have clearance issues with upper/lower hatch. there is also the option of a double-stacked receiver, which is around $40 from HF and should get the job done w/o any welding. another option is stick something there as a buffer, i've got a small piece of hardibacker i was thinking of just inserting there, until i find time to chop/weld mine permanently.

Thanks again.

Hey guys,

I am taking a bachelor trip weekend from the Lehigh Valley PA area to Mohegan Sun in CT. It's about 240 miles 1 way. I have a 2005 LX470 with 109k on it. I have recently done the AHC fluid change 3 times over 3 months...and the reservoir now shows pretty light pink fluid so I know that is good. The system itself has been working very well, goes up and down with no issues and the ride is great. I know the max interior load is 1,280lbs, but I will probably be around 1,500 with all the guys and luggage. I've never put that much weight in it before and I don't want to break my suspension. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Just a thought, I would just go on this party trip with 3 guys and 3 strippers under 120 lbs each. Since the strippers won't need much luggage for clothing it will give you more room for the beer cooler. Hope this helps.

Ha! Now why didn't I think of that.

We'll this doesn't matter anymore since I just bought an 04 LC which I will use.

I've owned 2 2004's did a lot of research on all the years, I actually think 2004 is the sweet spot for the 100 series. That was the last year before Toyota had a buyout for the old workers that had received a platinum JD power award for years. But with that said the 2005's seem to be as high of quality as previous years. The 2006-2007 with the VVti system that added the air pump complexity and expensive replacement if there is a problem for the uninformed owner (there are cheaper fixes then replacement as discussed on mud)
