Should an 04 LC have a low fuel light?

Ever since I have owned my 04 LC there has never been a low fuel light or anyway to tell if I am getting low.
My warranty is up soon and wanted to find out if this should be working.
Thanks

2000 has one...

My '02 has it, so yes, I would have them look into it.

How low have you allowed the tank to get to before determining that the light did not come on?

my 00' lc has one. it comes on right around when the needle is half way over the e line. at that point it will come on and off going up or down hills. ive figured that at the e line w/ a steady light i have about 2 gallons left.....ive always assumed my tank is 22gal, but dont really know. if i fill at e it will hold 20 or so, and if i run with the light for a while i can get 22 in and think im running on fumes. hope that helps.

how likely is it that the top of the line $70K Toyota vehicle would not have a lowly low-gas-light?

(the tank cap in the 03 -and I imagine most/all- is 25 US gals)

Agreed - 25 US gals. (Better than most bachelor parties!)

Mine comes on every time at exactly 5 gals to go.

My 00' and 01' both have low fuel lights come on as soon as i get to the last 5 gallons

Technically the fuel capacity on these is 25.4 galllons:grinpimp:

I've got a 2004 and seen the low fuel light come on. It's much lower then I would normally expect and wish it came on earlier. Sometimes I forget to watch the gas gauge.

For me though I pay more attention to the trip computer in the factory NAV. I've found it's "cruising range" to be fairly accurate and I base my fill ups based on it.

I filled up at the light the other day, and paid attention to how much went in- 21.25 gallons. when i pulled into the station, my cruising range said 14 miles, and my average mpg was 12.1. if i had 4.15 gallons left, wouldnt my range have been >48 miles?

both the 80 and 100 have very generous reserves (as in after the light comes on), IIRC. About 5 gals for both if memory serves well. 50+ miles for most. Not bad.
So I don't hesitate to go for a bit more after the light comes on. But I don't want to go too low either as I'd rather not suck gunk up the lines.

and yes, there is a quirk of sorts with the computer range. I forgot what exactly, but I noticed it a while back. May have been that the range is not taking the reserve into account.

My 04 has the low fuel light. It comes on when my trip computer reads 17 miles to empty. I have only run it that dry twice and I can't remember how many gallons of fuel it took to fill up the tank those times.

I forgot to add the low fuel light is located at the bottom left hand corner or the dash. If you shine a flash light on it you should see it. Unless it isn't there.
PaperTiger, I assume the trip computer does this on purpose so that you fill up before you are on fumes. I once had an Excursion trip computer that stated I had 38 miles to empty when it promptly ran out of diesel, and no I had not been parked or stopped on a hill.

So the low fuel light does NOT illuminate when bulbs are tested on ignition?

Get it checked because if it's on the circuit board thing, it's like 2 grand to replace. My hi-beam indicator is out and unfortunately it isn't as simple as replacing a bulb.

Look at this picture. Low fuel lamp IS in lamp self test.
