Hi there, just wanted to say hello and thanks for all the info, this forum is amazing. I fell in love with the FJ60 a few weeks ago when I saw one in a BaT auction. Since then I have waffled between and FJ60, FJ62, and FJ80. I think I have landed on 85-87 FJ60 so I can do a 5spd swap as time and money allow. Looking for a daily driver/weekend adventurer that drives a little better than a tractor. I had some conversations with Brian from corsetti cruisers, I'd love to just buy one of his trucks done but it is harder to fit that in the budget. Hope to be joining the club soon, Cheers!

You can do the 5 speed swap on any FJ60. The earlier one require a couple small things to be done but nothing earth shattering. Unfortunately all Stock FJ60's drive like tractors because they are pretty much tractors. If you do an engine swap then it will probably just become a faster tractor. Keep looking....two recent posts with people getting great deals for good looking trucks well below their actual values.

Many deals to be had as Seth S said.
Keep looking there are some out there. Be carful lots of trucks out there with just a pretty paint and nothing really done to the most important thing the engine and drivetrain.

Fj60’s are tractors. They are not fast and nimble. They are slow and steady drivers. They will get your there eventually.
Stay on top of the service and they will take your anywhere.
