Hey all,
My 2006 Land Cruiser (~140k miles) has always had a bit of a different feel through the shifter than my 03 and 00 before it. Nudging it from drive to neutral feels very vague. Like it's a very small push with not much of a "click" to get it into neutral. Almost like the shifter isn't perfectly aligned. However, I have never had any issues with getting into gear or popping out of gear or anything.
Randomly yesterday I got a CEL and the code is a P0705 which is a malfunction in the transmission range sensor. I'm guessing it's related to the misalignment in the shifter?
Also to note - the guy I bought it from lived on a steep hill and the parking brake was out of adjustment so he was putting the full weight of the car on the parking pin. I have no idea how long he did this for, but he owned it for 5+ years.
So my question is - could leaning on the park gear (instead of the e brake) cause some slop or misalignment in the shifter? And could it cause the code?
