Any one ever shave their head on a 2F to increase compression?

Propane is higher octane and I am figuring my 2F could benefit from improved compression.

Yeah, I had the last one done 0.050 under the guidance of Jim C. It runs good and does not ping on our Montana 85.5 octane gas (elevation ~5000 feet). 1987 engine if that matters.

Did you notice any difference in HP? Or MPG?

lol

clown ;)

Oh come on Mace! I know you know the answer to the question. Did you do it on your propane rig? I recall seeing something about a 2F rebuild (I think it was Dan C). With a whole bunch of stuff. Cam, Valve seats, pistons. I just can't seem to find it anymore......

milling or shaving the head is a great tool.

Numbers from slight mill to .100 have been reported.. Personally, .080 is about my max..

Very common mod..

I shaved mine 80 thousandths. Huge difference when combined with a rebuilt carb, header, cam, etc.

Dave's 60 pulls stronger than any other I have driven. It must work. It didn't ping any worse than mine either.

I'm actually curious about milling down an early 2F head, to use with flat top later type pistons. Any ideas?

I wish I could find that rebuild thread again. I need to know what cam that was and what valve work I should do outside the basics. My problem is I have too many projects at once. And I am getting old! Its tough when you are working on an inline, V8, and 4 cyl from my 912.

I am pretty sure I want to run the man-a-fre tuned headers. But I heard that doesn't make sense with a new cam. This is a propane only vehicle. I am looking for ways to boost my power.
