I recently picked up a 2021 LC 200 HE from a friend who apparently whacked the shark fin antenna with the garage door or something. I did not notice it until I was washing it. The black cover was missing on the antenna and the roof where it is mounted was distorted a bit. I bought a cover and snapped it on but it did not fit completely flush with the roof, so I put a bead of RTV around the cover to prevent potential leaks. Now I have no AM/FM reception. The satellite reception is fine. The AM/FM worked fine before I fixed it.

I don't understand how these antennas work, but assume the initial impact with whatever she hit weakened a connection and will have to replace the entire unit. I will see if a dent guy can straighten the place where it sits, but am trying to figure out how to get the headliner down to access the mounting bolt from underneath.

Anyone have experience with the removal in a 200, or know how the antenna works? Separate wires for separate functions of the radio. I just figured there was just a coax to the antenna for all functions

I could be wrong but was under the impression that our AM/FM antennas were in the third row side windows.

I think the wires in the third row windows are defrost. Now I am getting intermittent satellite signals, so I imagine the antenna is toast. No one with any experience with the rear headliner access?

I know guys with pre-2018 LCs have dropped the rear headliner to tap power at the dome light because there was no power in the liftgate. Probably buried in one of the liftgate LED threads somewhere. Hopefully someone can chime.

The FM antennas are in both side windows and shark fin is satellite radio.

Not sure about your FM issues, but the later 200s require dropping the headliner to do roof racks. You might get better info searching for roof rack installation how-to's on later models to get good instructions for dropping the headliner.

I chopped a big chunk off my shark fin to fit the OG lower mount style ARB base rack and haven't noticed any issues. To be honest I haven't tried FM radio though.
